Solve : so, is this an IE7 problem??

Answer»

not sure.  But I have the typical illegal operations popup slowing my computer and terminating my ability to browse.  I've done an AVG free scan in safe mode with system restore turned off.  Found nothing.

Does AVG scan the REGISTRY?  I did a free online scan of the registry and it found over 1000 "problems."  Of course in order to fix these I had to fork out 30 bucks for the software.  Any suggestions?oh, and :  Win XP Pro, 2002 SP2

Dell Workstation PWS 340

Pentium 4 CPU 2.00 GHZ, 1 GB of RAMhello?Flip81.......  Lets run thru this again.
You are using win XP Pro SP2 ........
You have the free AVG installed ( latest version )
You ran it in Safe Mode and nothing showed up.     And you did this because ?
You ran some online registry scanner and it found a lot of errors and then wanted 30.00 bucks to fix them........

Here's what I would do .
download and install  ccleaner ..... get it at ......
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Run the cleaner portion..... remove anything found .
Run the issues portion ...... do the backup when prompted and then fix all the issues.
Next d/L .... Spybot ..... get it at .....  http://www.tucows.com/preview/310138
Install it and do a full scan ......  Fix anything found ......
Next d/l AVG Anti-spyware free ......... get it at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Install it and do a full system scan.
all these apps are free and do work .......

And you did this because ?

ha!  I dunno there DL, maybe because I'm not as smart as you?

anyways, thanks for the info buddy.Ok I did EVERYTHING respectfully.  This problem persists.  Any other options?   :-/No guarantee that the $30 fix will work, and it is most likely unneccessary. Exact error messages would help isolate the problem as would specifics about your hardware and software, how long Windows has been loaded, etc.Flip81 ......

LOL ....... would you please explain exactly what this typical popup message says......
Hummmmmm , I have seen the illegal operations message in Win 98 , but never in win XP pro ........ ( but on the other hand , I may not be as smart as the average bear........ )

BTW , is this the same MACHINE that you have been posting about back in early Nov ........
