Answer» Hotmail will not work, nor will Ebay, plus several other sites. But Google, YouTube and several other sites work just fine. My ISP guy stopped by and remoted into my connection- everything worked great on his machine, so I'm pretty sure it is not an internet connection problem. It is like the computer is blocking some sites. I have a desktop with a wireless internet connection. I have run Spyware blaster, Ad-Aware personal, CW Shredder and AVG anti-spyare. No dice. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Paul.Check your dns settings.
First, try to flush your DNS CACHE: Start > Run "CMD". Then once inside the CMD, just type "ipconfig/flushdns".
After that..
My Network Places > View network connections > Right click on your Local Area Connection, Properties. Once that opens up, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties and make sure it's set to obtain DNS automatically.
If those don't work..
Check your browser to see if it's running off a proxy. For Firefox, to check go to Tools > OPTIONS > Advanced > Network > Settings.
In Internet Explorer, it's... Tools > Internet Options > Connections.
See if any of those ideas work.I TRIED everything you suggested- IE doesn't work right either- but I can't find the 'My Network Places' icon on the desktop, nor by searching. I did go in via Start>Control Panel>Network connections and looked for 'Obtain DNS automatically' but I couldn't see it. Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Paul.Instead of:
ipconfig/flushdns
You need to type in:
ipconfig /flushdns
Notice the space between ipconfig and /flushdnsThanks- still no dice. What else can I do?
