Solve : Strange issue with IE7?

Answer»

Have had IE 7 for some time, with no problems. Had an issue last week with no sound in streaming vids. Fixed that problem by adding Wavemapper to the reg with value of msacm32.drv and all was ok again.

Yesterday when I open IE, the msn page (my home page) opens ok, but the SECOND page on the tabbed browsing says "connecting" but never connects. I can click on any link within the msn page, but any click on the toolbars, or search windows freezes the prog & I have to SHUT it down via task manager.

Interesting poin though, if I sign on through MSN, whick also uses IE, everything is fine. But that way doesn't give me my google search box, tabbed browsing and a few other goodies I like.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.Do you have it set to auto open your home page ? ?
Check the address in Options/Tools...the address may be wrong.
You may just want to reset your homepage and see if this fixes it.I can't check that. As soon as I click on options, IE freezes. If I try to click anything except links w/in the msn page, such as search toolbars, options, anything.
I was going to try to stop the second page from opening but can't get there.Another thing I NOTICED, is that my comp will not restore to any earlier point. It goes through the motions, but finally says, "could not restore to an earlier point, no changes have been made."

Ran adaware and AVG and cleaned a buncha stuff out, but no fix yet.hi

How's it going ?Rusty you may be infected....Travel Here and follow the instructions...one of Our Resident Experts will be along shortly....Well try booting computer into safe mode, Maybe IE will stop freezing long enough for you to check out for the problems.

I suggest you just reset your IE. Backup all your bookmarks if you don't want to lose any of it as resetting sends IE back to manufacturer's settings.

Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> Reset

hope this works for you and yes, try scanning your computer to be sure you ain't infected.Wanted to leave a folow-up. Took the easy way out and installed firefox. Set-up as easy & it moved all my favorites & settings automatically.
I just removed the IE icon from my desktop. I know the PROGRAM is still there, but I don't need the space.
Thanks for the input.Quote from: Rusty on April 16, 2008, 04:21:22 AM

Good Choice !
IE is good for grabbing MS updates and "That's all i got to say about that"

Grab MozBack to make backups of your FireFox Profiles...and get ie tab. that way if you ever need ie, just run it thru the firefox!
