Answer» I recently dowlaoded Mozilla TB...& like it so far. The only problem i see is the amount of memory it uses when up & running. I READ on here somewhere awhile BACK about a "fix" you can do for firefox so when it's minimized to the taskbar it only uses about 4mb compared to the 30 or so when in the window. Does anyone know a similiar fix for thunderbird..it uses roughly 24mb rite now even in the taskbar. I use it STRICTLY for my business would like to leave it running at all times I'm online. Thanks! The tweak you can use for Firefox also works for TB. Here is how to apply it. (I assume you're using TB 2. I do not know if this works in TB 1.5.) In TB select Tools --> options... Select Advanced --> General --> Config Editor... You now got a new window called about:config with a huge SCROLLABLE list of preferences. Right click anywhere in the list and select New --> Boolean Enter "config.trim_on_minimize" as the name for the PREFERENCE (Without the quotation marks). Select true in the next window and ok.
That's it. Restart TB and the tweak should take effect. When you minimize TB the memory consumption should drop to around 4 mb. Note that over time the memory consumption will still climb even with this tweak. But it should still use less memory than before. And you can always reset it back to 4 mb by maximizing and minimizing it again. Thanks...I have the newest version so it should work!!Yes it should work fine then, it did for me.
