Solve : Trouble running a game.?

Answer»

I'm trying to play The Lost Island of Alanna, but my computer is having some trouble running it (I'm using Windows XP).  First, it said I needed at least 3MB of virtual memory, so I increased the size of my PAGING files, which took care of that problem.  But now when I try to run the game, I get an error that says:

Problem opening "C:\\OWNER~1.MUR\LOCALS~1\TEMP".  -34

When I click OK, it says:

This movie requires the following missing Xtras in order to play properly:
AlphaMania 2.0 Mac FAT
Please check your xtras folder and try again, or contact the author for more information.

All I really know about the game that it was a promotional Cherry COKE game MADE around 1998 by Balmoral Software.  I've tried CONTACTING Balmoral, but I figured I'd ask here since you guys are quick and usually know what you're talking about.  Ha.

Just for the heck of it, I've included a picture of what the game looks like (it has red crosses everywhere and graphics are missing)...Well I don't really know the answer to everything, but it looks a bit like your video card is broken/damaged/ran out of juice...

Hope you somehow get the problem solved....

AdvocateIt shouldn't be my video card.  It's still RELATIVELY new and can easily run graphics significantly more advanced than what's on this game.  It seems to be a problem with a certain file missing that's needed to run the videos.  But I don't get it because the game works on an older computer of mine that runs Windows 98.  I contact the creators, but haven't heard back from them yet.Try running it in compatibility mode for Windows 98. It is definitely NOT the video card.  And, eh, how the heck does a video card run out of juice?? Sounds like "headlight fluid for the car" translated to computer world. Quote

You know, I really don't know why I didn't think of that.  That did the trick.  Thanks a bunch, Calum!Happy to help, glad you got it sorted.
