Solve : unusual message when I go online?

Answer»

I am using version 6 of microsoft explorer.  Whenever I go online I get this "popup"  the top of the box says: Messenger Service.  The message is:  Message from STOP to ALERT STOP! WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!  Windows has found critical system errors to fix the errors please do the following.  Dowload Registry Repari from www. reg-patch.com. . . .
Is this a valid notice, or just a trick?  Since the address for the repair wasn't Microsoft, I was skeptical  What is this, and if this is junk, how can I stop it? ThanksDownload, install, update & run the Microsoft anti-spyware (beta) program. You have a bug. Dr._Jalali...well I'll tell youwhat not to do ....don't click on the suggested link.......You have been infected by some bug.......Go into safe mode and run your anti virus and then run a antispyware SCAN ......If you are using XP , I would suggest using Antispyware Beta ........D/l it at .... http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/Thank you gentlemen.  I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Beta Spyware program, with the latest updates. Then I did a TOTAL scan and it came up with nothing?  So what is happening? What is this message? How can I stop it ? and why didn't the spyware catch it?
thanks so much.
Dr. JalaliWhat about viruses? Have you updated your protection and scanned for them?

[glb]Flame[/glb]You could disable your windows messenger service, it's now a redundant legacy thing from the distant past.
thanks will do both--disable messenger and check for viruses. I'll let you know what happens.
