Solve : upgrade to IE 7 issue?

Answer»

When I try to upgrade, I get the message "Couldn't verify the integrity of the files needed for install. Make sure cryptographic service is running". How do I solve this problem. Running Win2000 on an older Dell. It has IE 5 right now also.*update*

I was able to upgrade to IE 6. I think we may just stay there for now. I'd still like to know the solution to the previous problem though if anybody has one.IE 7 is only for:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

system requirementsThanks Soy. Believe it or not, this solved alot of questions here. Funny how people seldom read the system requirements when installing things. Glad I could help. By the way, have you EVER used any other browsers? I used IE as my sole browser until about 3 months ago, when I decided to try Firefox. It soon became my preferred browser. If you want to try a browser with tabs, give Firefox a test drive. If you like "to have many browser windows open simultaneously you're going to find yourself saving a lot of time and screen space by using tabs. Tabs are simply browser windows within a browser. They don't require that you open a new browser, you can browse between multiple websites within one browser using multiple tabs." For more, see Firefox USER Guide.Very nice catch there soybean.Quote

I have been using Firefox for sometime on my home computer. Last week, I talked my boss into trying it for something we were having issues with here at work concerning IE 7. I use both IE and Firefox at work, but I do like Firefox much better. Have you tried Thunderbird yet? Its Mozilla's answer to Outlook. ThunderBird is to e-mail what FireFox is to browsing...

No, I haven't tried it yet but I'm tempted. But, to clarify a point here, Thunderbird is a full replacement for Outlook Express, but not for Outlook, since Outlook does a good bit more than email (Calendar, Tasks, etc.).

But you can get extensions for T-Bird so it can do all that and more.
Don't deny the power of Mozilla.OK, I just looked into the extensions and see that they have one ReminderFox. So, yes, some calendar FUNCTIONALITY is available for Thunderbird. However, per https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/1191/, "ReminderFox does not seek to be a full-fledged calendar system." Outlook is a full-fledged calendar system. How about this? An extension for T-Bird again.
Or this? A separate application, built on the same lines as Firefox. So not exactly integrated into T-Bird.
Don't know if either meets your needs as I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express so I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for.SunBird by Mozilla

Their calender program...Of course.
I have no idea why I LINKED to the portable version . . . probably because that was the only place I'd seen it and I didn't think, of course there's a non-portable version.
Silly me.
