Solve : User Defined Shortcut Keys?

Answer»

My son has inadvertently set the '8' key on my KEYBOARD's number pad as a shortcut key that maximises Explorer if it is running, which is obviously quite frustrating when trying to type in numbers.

He is unsure what he did to achieve this, and I have been UNABLE to fix it, so can anyone suggest how to de-activate this shortcut key?

Any help is much appreciated.

PartyOperating system? When did this happen?

FlameOperating System : Windows XP (Home Edition)

When did this happen : I believe that he set the shortcut key by right clicking the mouse on a desktop shortcut/icon, clicked on properties and entered the shortcut key in the option there. I have changed the shortcut key BACK to 'none' in this properties menu, but the key is still affected even after re-booting the computer.

PartyIf this just happened you can go back to a point in TIME before this disaster with System Restore.

Thank-you very much for this suggestion. I was able to work out roughly when it happened and used System Restore to a back-date to just before this, and it has solved the problem.

The link to the article was also very helpful as it MADE it easier to appreciate what System Restore is capable of.

Thanks again.
