Solve : VLC media player?

Answer» Hello everyone I am running Ubuntu MATE 19.04 and although i DOWNLOADED all codecs during install the VLC MEDIA player will not play any cd's or dvd's? I have installed Ubuntu restricted extras via the Synaptic PACKAGE MANAGER and although VLC does not DISPLAY any errors it just hangs there. Could anyone help me out please.
