At Command Prompt, type in:
sfc /scannow
Have Windows XP CD ready.

and as for this comment, i got my computer from my older sister because she got a new one, and i guess she didnt happen to give us the xp cd becuase i dont have it lol.You can BORROW it from a friend.The absolute best thing to do when you are given a machine from someone else is a complete format and CLEAN install of the OS and programs of your choice...
