Solve : Why is there no password asked to access Chrome's "Manage passwords" tab? |
|
Answer» I use Win7 and dont have a password when opening a session because i'm moslty by myself, but I noticed that while i'm away, anyone that can open chrome and go into the manage password TAB can just see anything without any security QUESTION asked... is the WINDOWS 7 login password and the chrome manage password security code linked, because I don't see any option in the chrome settings to lock this tab.No...and if you have not set a password for Chrome it behaves like the above... I'm the Chrome browser security tech lead, so it might help if I explain our reasoning here. The only strong permission boundary for your password STORAGE is the OS user account. So, Chrome uses whatever encrypted storage the system provides to keep your passwords safe for a locked account. Beyond that, however, we've found that boundaries within the OS user account just aren't reliable, and are mostly just theater.Your confusing the issue...The sign in was for your Google account...not Chrome.
