Solve : Win 10 chrome v. 53 wildly high data upload/sent bandwidth?

Answer»

Win 10 chrome v. 53 with KIS, all other extensions disabled, why is the browser upload bandwidth wildly high. windows update is disabled?Upload bandwidth has nothing to do with Win updates...those would be DLoad bandwidth...
It's likely your PC has been compromised into a spambot rig...
DLoad and run RUBotted."Upload bandwidth has nothing to do with Win updates" incorrect. google windows 10 updates which by default uses your pc and bandwidth to distribute the update uploads, much like a torrent scheme. unless you change the settings you download from the ms network and random pc's and upload to random window 10 users. check it out.

i will check the infection possibilities but they would have to have gotten by kis and malwarebytes, which is of course entirely possible.Who told you that ? ?...Source please ? ?Quote from: patio on September 25, 2016, 06:18:23 PM

It's a default Windows 10 option. in Windows Update, Advanced Options, Choose how Updates are Delivered. The option is "Updates from more than one place" and can be turned on or off. If enabled there is the option to either restrict providing and receiving update data to the Local Network, or allow it to work across the Internet. The default options are to have this setting ON and set to "PCs on my local network, and PCs on the Internet".

More info.BC_Programmer pretty much COVERED the reference on the ms updates distribution. you COULD google it. this is not a closely kept SECRET. there was plenty of debate about how underhanded it is to literally steal your bandwidth. i do get it is COUNTER intuitive but it is a fact.

i can see i am in the wrong replace if this question has devolved into a discussion of elementary ancient history. little chance the actual problem will get solved here. my bad.Quote
