Answer» When is IE faster? IE loads faster and is faster in startup. Same here. I've always noticed that IE tends to load significantly faster (I mean the program itself, not pages). I suppose it doesn't matter too much, though.Yeah, like when you restart your computer or when you turn it on. When you run Firefox for the first time it takes quite a while to start. But then after that when you try to open it's fine.Must admit that I just wanted to post the same question ( similar one ) as this one. But I followed the recommendations of the forum administrators and found this question which will work for my needs. I have a Gateway laptop with an AMD ATHLON, a gig of ram and windows XP. It seems to take forever to get to the desktop ( this is not the problem but I thought I would throw it in for any side comments ) On that laptop I have IE 5.x as well as Opera. I can't say that I have noticed a speed difference between the two browsers but I have noticed that less cookie are collected with Opera than IE 5 I also have an HP laptop with an Intel Centrino Duo which loads the desktop a lot faster than the Gateway. I basically have the same items in the systray. As an experiement I was thinking of trying Foxfire as my second browser and noticed that the download mentions Google; I'm guessing it means Foxfire with a Google menu bar? Is there a Google free version that I can download and what version is it? BTW this HP alerts me everyday that there are updates available for my computer and when checking closer it wants to update IE. The version that is currently in place is 6.0.2900. Is 7 any better than 6? If you download firefox now, it comes with the Google TOOLBAR. To get rid of the toolbar, do the FOLLOWING: Open Firefox click on Tools at the top click Add-ons click the Google Toolbar and choose Uninstall. Simpleim not sure this would belong in this section, as it is completely subjective.I also noticed that IE seems to load faster than firefox. I also did not like firefox when I tried it. But maybe it's just me .If you have too MANY add-ons, firefox will start slower but for me, web browsing is much easier.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on May 30, 2007, 11:26:51 PM If you have too many add-ons, firefox will start slower but for me, web browsing is much easier. So remove some, and/or follow one of the many Firefox tweak guides. Can we leave the topic alone please? It's finished, let it rest in peace.Just out of curiosity, where does one find the Witch internet browser. I think I've ever tried it.Quote from: ms_dos_sux on May 30, 2007, 07:15:56 PM im not sure this would belong in this section, as it is completely subjective. If my posts are in the wrong place it's perfectly fine if someone with the power to do so; moves them. |
