Solve : YouTube causing Google Chrome to hang frequently?

Answer»

YouTube has been causing Google Chrome to hang repeatedly on my HP desktop computer. The worst I've had this happen is 10 times in one day! MANY things cause it to happen including switching from an active tab (like Facebook loading between pages) while a video is playing to typing in something to search too early(like after the home page flashes up). The few times this has happened with a video playing the sound from the video continues to play just fine even after I get the "Not Responding" error from my computer. A few times this has happened it caused my Norton Confidential plug-in to crash and become non-responsive as well. Most of my browsing time is spent with YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter open at the same time in multiple tabs.Have you tried with firefox or any other browser? Is it only youtube or while using the computer you feel its freezing a lot?You better clear the Cache and Cookie and etc of your google chrome, (not necessary to clear history)
To make your browser feel Fresh! And BREATHE!
This might not be a good statement but it will work mostoffen.

On the otherside, check if there is a new version of your
Google chrome, if yes, update it. (By updating you're X, sometimes it get worse. For example i remember i updated my Firefox,
And then after hours, I faced to about 10 Crashes).
But you try the last version of your google chrome it might get better if the 1st solution didn't work.None of that seemed to help. I did discover, however that it is not YouTube crashing Chrome, but Facebook. I've had Facebook hang Chrome even when YouTube is not one of the sites I currently have running.Quote from: funguy11 on December 29, 2013, 04:09:46 PM

I knew It's not because of YouTube. It's all browser fault. Browsers have to be responsible.
Did you update it?
USE Firefox instead. Unless you've switched from Firefox to Chrome.
Or waoo! What about Internet Explorer?! It is the king of Nothings!I've now discovered quite a few sites that present this problem. Mostly when trying to load a large amount of information.Quote from: funguy11 on December 29, 2013, 04:09:46 PM

What does "none of that seemed to help" mean? Did you try different browsers? If so, which ones and what happened? The most common time I've seen it happen is when I go from my Facebook News Feed to a group page. If that helps...Did you consider that it may be on their servers end ? ?
To test this have a Tab to an unrelated page open...when it happens clik that tab and see if all is good...
If so...it's on their end.Quote from: patio on January 05, 2014, 12:49:22 PM

I usually have YouTube and Twitter open at the same time as Facebook. When Facebook hangs the three tabs at the top of the screen are replaced with a single bar and "(not responding)" APPEARS and my mouse turns into the spinning blue ring.what type of operating system do you use?
You didn't mention the version of your chrome.
Have you ever used Firefox browser? Are you intentionally ignoring the question about trying other browsers? If you're not going to do as we ask we won't be able to assist you.I have WINDOWS 7 and Internet Explorer 11 gives me absolutely no problems. I would switch back to it but I am using Chrome for AdBlock Plus while using YouTube. One word...FireFox.No other choice so...I switched over to Firefox!
