The oxides that act both with acids and bases Metal oxides which shows both acidic as well as basic behavior is called Amphotheric acid. Ex- Aluminum oxide, Zinc oxide, etc. Metal oxides which react with both acids as well as bases to produce salts and water are known as amphoteric oxides.Ex. lead oxide and zinc oxide etc.
