What are chlorofluorocarbons

Answer» Thanks???
CFC stands for Chlorofluorocarbon. As the name suggests, it consists of chlorine, fluorine, and carbon. They are mainly used as refrigerants in cooling systems. As it is released in the atmosphere, it reacts with light and produces the chlorine (Cl-) radical. This chlorine radical, catalyzes the Ozone (O3) present in the atmosphere, and breaks down ozone into oxygen molecule. Hence, ozone depletion occurs.
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are nontoxic, nonflammable chemicals containing atoms of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine. They are used in the manufacture of aerosol sprays and etc
