Answer» Inner lining of the oesophagas contracts and relaxes rhythmically pushing the food forward into the stomach. This is called peristatic movement
They are involuntary action by the muscles in the digestive tract. Occasionally they are used to push food down the oesophagus until complete digestion.
Due to rythemic contraction of muscles in inner wall of oesophagus food is pushed down and enter in stomach this is called peristaltic movement
