Answer» When a leaf is examined under the microscope, we observe many tiny pores, which are collectively called stomata.Functions of StomataThe major function of stomata is the exchange of gases by taking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and giving out oxygen that is used by human beings and animals. They help in photosynthesis and transpiration.
Stomata are the small pores present mostly in the leaves as well as in the soft and hairy stems . The function of stomata is to exchange the gases. These are surrounded by two gaurd cells,as when required these opens to absorb gases and release gases.
