What is the difference between mutation and genetic drift???

Answer» Thanx yogita and deepanshi
Genetic drift accounts to random changes in the allelic frequency by chance. It is a chance of elimination of certain genes coding for certain traits as and when a small community of organisms dies. Genetic variability is reduced by eliminating certain alleles and fixing the existing alleles. Genetic drift occurs in small population. Genetic drift provides diversity without any adaptation. Variation in species may result in genetic drift.Mutation in genetic material leads to genotype and phenotype of an organism. Mutations are caused by many factors called as mutagens. Mutagens include physical factors and chemical factors. Mutations in the genetic materials can be gene mutation or chromosomal mutation. Gene mutations are again categorised into substitution, deletion and insertion mutations.
Mutation is change in chromosomes no.Genetic drift means elimination of genes of certain traits by a section of species migrated by natural calamity
