Why AIDs is called a syndrome and not a disease? |
|
Answer» Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease. AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is not one disease but a set of diseases. Not all the people who develop AIDS suffer from the same diseases but there are certain unusual illnesses that occur very frequently in AIDS. That is why it is called a syndrome. AIDS is acquired immune deficiency syndrome. It is considered a syndrome because it is a collection of symptoms. It is because AIDS makes the body vulnerable to certain pathogens as it destroys the immune system of the body and could lead to diseases like pneumonia and typhoid |
