Why are electric bulbs filled with chemically inactive nitrogen or argon? |

Answer» inert gas won\'t react with the filament. In presence of oxygen will cause filament to burn and stops the flow of any unduly high electric current and breaks the circuit. Because nitrogen is the least reactive under normal temperature and circumstances and argon is an inert and noble gas which doesn\'t react chemically. |
