Why are the incident and emergent rays parallel to each other in case of rectangular glass slab? |
| Answer» In a\xa0rectangular glass slab, the\xa0emergent Ray\xa0is\xa0parallel\xa0to the direction of the\xa0incident ray. The extent of bending of the\xa0ray\xa0of light at the opposite\xa0parallel\xa0faces of the\xa0rectangular slab\xa0is equal and opposite. This is why the rat emerges\xa0parallel\xa0to the\xa0incident ray.\xa0This is because in the case of the\xa0glass slab\xa0the surfaces (on which light is\xa0incident\xa0and emerging) are opposite and\xa0parallel\xa0to each other. Whereas, in the case of a\xa0glass prism\xa0the surfaces are inclined to each other at some angle. | |
