Why cannot fertilisation take place in flowers if pollination doesnot occur?

Answer» In a flower fertilization requires both male and female gametes. If pollination does not occur, male gamete is not available hence fertilization cannot take place.Pollination is the process of transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of a flower(which means it is the male gamete) .Fertilization is fusion of gametes , if pollination does not there will be no male gamete for fusion, therefore without pollination fertilization cannot take place.
