Why carbon formed covalent bond not ionic bond

Answer» Because carbon is tetravalent. So it can gain or lose 4 electron to become stable. But it\'s very difficult to lose 4 electron as high ionisation energy is required.Carbom also cann\'t gain 4 electron as it\'s very difficult for six protons to hold ten electron. So instead of losing and gaining electron it shares them and form covalent bonds.
Because of it\'s tetravalency nature.
