Why do plants need to ensure that there is sufficient intake of oxygen |
| Answer» Oxygen, for\xa0plants, is essential because\xa0it\xa0makes the process of respiration more efficient (known as aerobic respiration).\xa0Plant\xa0cells\xa0are\xa0respiring constantly. But, during times when they can\'t access light, most\xa0plants\xa0respire more than they photosynthesize, so they take in more\xa0oxygen\xa0than they produce.\xa0Respiration\xa0is the\xa0process of oxidation of food substances that release carbon dioxide; it takes place throughout\xa0the day.\xa0Photosynthesis takes place\xa0during day in\xa0presence of Sunlight only. Hence,\xa0plants\xa0release\xa0oxygen during day\xa0only\xa0while\xa0carbon dioxide\xa0is\xa0released\xa0during\xa0night.\xa0 | |
