Answer» Magnesium ribbon start floating in hot water as it is lighter than water. It reacts slowly with boiling water to form mgo and h2 Am I right Mg react with watet and hydrogen is evolved . This hydrogen stick to mg and increase the volume of the element and hence make it float The reaction b2in mg and hot water soes not evolve much heat....so h2 gas formed forms bubbles and sticks to the surface of the ribbon causing it 2 float |
