How do hydrogen ions exist in water???

Answer» \tThe hydroxide concentration is a direct measure of a solution\'s pH. This may be formed in water/pure water where an acid exist. H3O+ is its chemical formula By combining an\xa0H+ion with an H2O molecule,\xa0it is formed too.\tThe H+ion has a trigonal pyramidal geometry\xa0and comprises 1 oxygen atom and 3 hydrogen atoms. There is a single pair of electrons in oxygen that gives it this shape. Between the atoms, the bond angle is around 113 degree. ---- H2O(l)⇌OH−(aq)+H+(aq\tAs H+ions are formed, they bond with H2O molecules\xa0in the solution to form H3O+(the hydronium-ion). This is due to the hydrogen ions that is not present in aqueous solutions, however takes the form of water H2O

What are tooth decoy

Answer» Join betternation.xyz This is a site where u can have a lot of friends and fun ? ? ?
It is a condition which causes a softening of the tooth enamel. It happens when biological bacteria in our mouth produces sufficient acids from sugars to Decay the enamel of dentine
Tooth decay occurs at an acidic pH around 5 or below. The microorganisms of the mouth converts sugars into acids, resulting in decrease of the pH of the saliva. In the presence of these acids, the enamel\xa0of the teeth is degraded, and it leads to tooth decay.

Notes for "Our Environment"

Answer» CBSE Class 10 ScienceRevision NotesCHAPTER – 15OUR ENVIRONMENTEnvironment means everything which surrounds us. It may include living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic) components.Biotic : Plants and animals. Abiotic : Air, water etc.Environment affect the life and development of an organism in its natural habitat & vice a versa.Substances that can be decomposed by the action of micro-organism like bacteria are called bio-degredable. E.g. organic wastes.Substances which cannot be decomposed by the action of microorganisms are called non-biodegradable.Example of biodegradable wastes : cattle dung, cotton, jute, paper, fruit and vegetable peels, leaves etc.Examples of non-biodegradable wastes : plastics, polythene bags, synthetic fibres, metals, radioactive wastes.ECO SYSTEM & ITS COMPONENTAll the interacting living organisms in an area together with non living components form an ecosystem. So an ecosystem consists of both biotic(living creatures) and abiotic components like temperature, rainfall, wind, soil etc.All living organisms are classified on the basis nutrition.I.\xa0Producers :\xa0All green plants, blue green algae can produce their food (Sugar & starch) from inorganic substance using light energy (Photosynthesis).II.\xa0Consumers\xa0: Include organisms which depend on the producers either directly or indirectly for their sustenance. Consumers depend on others for food.III.\xa0Decomposeres\xa0: Fungi & Bacterias which break down(decompose) the dead plant, animals complex compounds into the simpler one. Thus decomposeres help in the replenishment\xa0A 3- Step Food ChainFood Chain\xa0: It is the sequence of living organisms in which one organism consumes another organism for energy. It is unidirectional(single directional). In a food chain, various steps where transfer of energy takes place is called a trophic level. The green plants capture 1% of sun’s energy. The flow of energy is unidirectional in a food chain. There is gradual decrease in the amount of energy from one trophic level to next trophic level in a food chain.10 Percent Law :\xa0The energy available at each successive trophic levelis 10% of the previous level. So only 10% of Energy is transferred to next trophic level while 90%of energy is used by present trophic level in its life processes. The concentration of harmful chemical increases with every next trophic level in a food chain. It is called Bio-magnificationMaximum concentration of such chemicals get accumulated in human bodies. Since humans occupy the top level in any food chain.ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMSChanges in environment affect us and our activities change the environment around us. Environmental problems caused by humans:(a) depletion of the Ozone Layer and waste disposal.(b) pollution due to mismanagement of waste disposal.I. Depletion of Ozone LayerOzone (O3) layer is largely found in the stratosphere which is a part ofour atmosphere from 12 km – 50km above sea level.Ozone is a deadly poison at the ground level.Ozone is formed as a result of a following photochemical reaction.Ozone layer is a protective blanket around earth which absorbs most of the harmful U.V. (Ultraviolet) radiation of the Sun, thus protecting the living beings of the earth from health hazards like skin cancer, cataract in eyes, weaken immune system, destruction of plants etc.The decline of Ozone layer thickness in Antartica was first observed in 1985 and was termed as\xa0OZONE HOLE.Reason of Ozone DepletionExcessive use of CFCs (Chloro Flouro Carbon) a synthetic, inert chemical E.g. Freon which are used as refrigerants and in fire extinguishers, caused Ozone depletion in the upper atmosphere. A single chlorine atom can destroys 1,00,000 Ozone molecules. U.N.E.P. (United Nation Environment Programme)did an excellent job in forging an agreement to freeze CFC production at 1986 levels (KYOTO Protocol) by all countries.Garbage DisposalIndustrialization and rise in demand of consumer goods have created a major problem in the form of wastes/garbage accumulation and its disposal specially in urban area. The different methods of solid wastes disposal commonly used aroundthe world are.1.\xa0Open dumping\xa0: A conventional method in which solid wastes dumped in selected areas of a town. It actually cause pollution2.\xa0Land fillings\xa0: Wastes are dumped in low living area and are compacted by rolling with bulldozersComposting\xa0: Organic wastes are filled into a compost pit (2m × 1m× 1m). It is then covered with a thin layer of soil. After about three months the same garbage filled inside the pit changes into organic manure.4.\xa0Recycling\xa0: The solid wastes is broken down into its constituent simpler materials. These materials are then used to make new items. Even non-bio degradable solid wastes like plastic, metal can be recycled.5\xa0Reuse\xa0: A very simple conventional technique of using an item again& again. For e.g. paper can be reused for making envelops etc. What you have learntThe various components of an ecosystem are interdependent. The producers make the energy from sunlight available to the rest of the ecosystem. There is a loss of energy as we go from one trophic level to the next, this limits the number of trophic levels in a food-chain.Human activities have an impact on the environment. The use of chemicals like CFCs has endangered the ozone layer. Since the ozone layer protects against the ultraviolet radiation from the Sun, this could damage the environment. The waste we generate may be biodegradable or non-biodegradable.The disposal of the waste we generate is causing serious environmental problems.

what are the laws of inheritance?

Answer» The three laws given by Mendel are:i. Law of dominance - According to this law, when a cross is made between two homozygous individuals, only one of the two characters of the pair (dominant) appears in the F1 generation. There is the appearance of both the characters in F2 generation.ii. Law of segregation - This law states that the characteristics of an organism are determined by the internal factors which occur in pairs. Only one of a pair of such factors can be present in a single gamete.iii. Law of independent assortment - This law states that in the inheritance of more than one pair of traits in a cross simultaneously, the factors responsible for each pair of traits are distributed independently to the gametes.

Why an electric current is a scalar quantity although it possesses magnitude and direction?

Answer» What is water crystalisation
Electric current is a scalar quantity. Any physical quantity is termed as a vector quantity when the quantity has magnitude and direction. But there are other factors that determine the quantity as vector or scalar quantity. If the physical quantity obeys the laws of vector addition such as triangle law of vector addition and parallelogram law of vector addition, then the quantity is said to be a vector quantity. In the case of electric current, when two currents meet at a junction, the resultant current of these will be an algebraic sum and not the vector sum. Therefore, an electric current is a scalar quantity although it possesses magnitude and direction.

The human eyes are the most complicated sense organs in the human body. From the muscles and tissues to nerves and blood vessels, every part of the human eye is responsible for a certain action. Furthermore, contrary to popular belief, the eye is not perfectly spherical; instead, it is two separate segments fused together. It is made up of several muscles and tissues that come together to form a roughly spherical structure. From an anatomical perspective, the human eye can be broadly classified into the external structure and internal structure. The External Structure of an EyeThe parts of the eye that are visible externally include the following:-Sclera: It is a white visible portion. It is made up of dense connective tissue and protects the inner parts.Conjunctiva: It lines the sclera and made up of stratified squamous epithelium. It keeps our eyes moist and clear and provides lubrication by secreting mucus and tears.Cornea: It is the transparent, anterior or front part of our eye, which covers the pupil and the iris. The main function is to refract the light along with the lens.Iris: It is the pigmented, coloured portion of the eye, visible externally. The main function of the iris is to control the diameter of the pupil according to the light source.Pupil: It is the small aperture located in the centre of the Iris. It allows light to enter and focus on the retina.Further Reading: Stereoscopic Vision The Internal Structure of an EyeThe internal components of an eye are:Lens: It is a transparent, biconvex, lens of an eye. The lens is attached to the ciliary body by ligaments. The lens along with cornea refracts light so that it focuses on the retina.Retina: It is the innermost layer of the eye. It is light sensitive and acts as a film of a camera. Three layers of neural cells are present in them, they are ganglion, bipolar and photoreceptor cells. It converts the image into electrical nerve impulses for the visual perception by the brain.Optic nerve: It is located at the posterior portion of the eyes. The optic nerves carry all the nerve impulses from the retina to the human brain for perception.Aqueous Humour: It is a watery fluid present between the cornea and the lens. It nourishes the eye and keeps it inflated.Vitreous Humour: it is a transparent, jelly-like substance present between the lens and the retina. It contains water (99%), collage, proteins, etc. The main function of vitreous humour is to protect eyes and maintain its spherical shape. I Hope It Helps You

Define Ecosystem and it\'s components? (For 5mark) .

Answer» Join betternation.xyz This is a site where u can have a lot of friends and fun ? ? ?
All organisms such as plants, animals, microorganisms and human beings interact with the non-living physical surroundings in an area called as the ecosystem. There are two main components of an\xa0ecosystem\xa0which are in constant communication with each other. They are the\xa0biotic components and the abiotic components.Biotic Components of EcosystemThe living components of an ecosystem are called the biotic components. Some of these factors include plants, animals, as well as\xa0fungi\xa0and\xa0bacteria. These biotic components can be further classified, based on the energy requirement source. Producers, consumers, and decomposers are the three broad categories of biotic components.\tProducers\xa0are the plants in the ecosystem, which can generate their own energy requirement through photosynthesis, in the presence of\xa0sunlight\xa0and chlorophyll. All other living beings are dependent on plants for their energy requirement of food as well as\xa0oxygen.\tConsumers\xa0include herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. The herbivores are the\xa0living organisms\xa0that feed on plants. Carnivores eat other living organisms. Omnivores are animals that can eat both\xa0plant and animal tissue.\tDecomposers\xa0are the fungi and bacteria, which are the saprophytes. They feed on the decaying organic matter and convert this matter into\xa0nitrogen\xa0and\xa0carbon dioxide. The saprophytes play a vital role in recycling the\xa0nutrients\xa0so that the producers i.e. plants can use them once again.Abiotic Components of EcosystemAbiotic components are the physical and/or the chemical factors that act on the living organisms at any part of their life. These are also called as the ecological factors. The physical and chemical factors are characteristic of the\xa0environment. Light, air, soil, and nutrients, etc. form the abiotic components of an ecosystem. The abiotic factors vary from ecosystem to ecosystem. In an\xa0aquatic\xa0ecosystem, the abiotic factors may include water pH,\xa0sunlight, turbidity, water depth, salinity, available nutrients and dissolved\xa0oxygen. Similarly, abiotic factors in terrestrial ecosystems can include soil,\xa0soil types,\xa0temperature,\xa0rain, altitude,\xa0wind, nutrients, sunlight etc.
