Extraction of iron by blast furnace |
| Answer» The purpose of a Blast Furnace is to reduce the concentrated ore chemically to its liquid metal state. A Blast furnace is a gigantic, steel stack lined with refractory brick where the concentrated iron ore, coke, and limestone are dumped from the top, and a blast of hot air is blown into the bottom. All the three ingredients are crushed into small round pieces and mixed and put on a hopper which controls the input.Hot air is blown from the bottom and coke it burned to yield temperatures up to about 2200K. Burning coke provides the majority of the heat required for this process. At such high temperatures, Coke reacts with the oxygen in the hot air to form Carbon Monoxide (CO). The CO and heat now move upwards and meet the raw material running down from the top. The temperature in the upper parts of the Blast Furnace is considerably lower than the 2200K at the bottom. In this part, Haematite (Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe3O4) are reduced to Ferrous Oxide (FeO). | |

What are the componenets of the transport system in highly organised plants |
| Answer» 1) The transport system of organised plants consists of xylem and phloem.2) Xylem which has vessels and trachieds transports water and minerals from root to other parts of the plant.3) Phloem which consists of sieve tubes, sieve cells and companion cells transports food from leaves to storage organs and other parts of the plants.4) In xylem the transport is unidirectional i.e., from root upward while in phloem it is bidirectional. | |

How the sexual mode of reproduction is advantageous that of the asexual reproduction |
| Answer» Advantages of sexual reproduction:1. In sexual reproduction, more variations are produced. Thus, it ensures survival of species in a population.2. The new formed individual has characteristics of both the parents.3. Variations are more viable in sexual mode than in asexual one. This is because in asexual reproduction, DNA has to function inside the inherited cellular apparatus. | |

differnce between reflex action and reflex arc? |
|
Answer» Reflex arcs are formed in the spinal cord itself, although the information input goes on to reach the brain. A reflex arc is a neural pathway that controls an action reflex. In higher animals, most sensory neurons do not pass directly into the brain, but synapse in the spinal cord. Reflex Action :- The action in which the electrical impulses are carried from receptory organ to the brain or spinal cord with help of nerve cell. This is called reflex action. Reflex Arc :- The path or way which is used in reflex action from the organ to brain is called reflex arc.Hope it will help you...☺☺☺ The process by which sensory neuron bring signals from the effected organ to the brain and motor neuron carries signals from brain to the effected organ , that is known as reflex action. The path followed by the reflex action is known as reflex arc. |

Whar is catinaton? |
|
Answer» catenation is the bonding of atoms of the same element into a series, called a chain. ... Catenation occurs most readily with carbon, which forms covalent bonds with other carbon atoms to form longer chains and structures. This is the reason for the presence of the vast number of organic compounds in nature. Catenation :- The property of atom of an element to link with one another forming chains of identical atoms is called catination. Catenation is the self linking property of an element by which an atom combines with the other atoms of the same element to form long chains and cyclic structures. C is the best example of this phenomenon.Carbon has high catenation capacity to form stable long chain compounds because of the following reasons(i) Small size(ii) Tetra valency(iii) High C-C bond energy |

Define ohmic and non ohmic resistance |
| Answer» Ohm\'s law is Current flowing a branch is directly proportional to the voltage applied across the two points of that branch. Ohmic devices are simply those who files Ohm\'s law and non-ohmic are those who don\'t. ... The devices which obey the rule V=IR are ohmic device. The devices which does not are non ohmic device. | |
| 64429. |
Why does carbon do not form ionic compounds |
| Answer» carbon does not form ionic bonds because it has 4 valence electrons, half of an octet. To form ionic bonds, Carbon molecules must either gain or lose 4 electrons. | |
