How does the physical structure deteriorate |
Answer» Structural deterioration of infrastructure systems is a serious concern because it might decrease the lifespan and reliability of the systems. In addition, the PREDICTION of structural deterioration can be helpful in optimizing design of infrastructure systems accounting for their life cycle. In particular, with the advent of performance-based engineering methodology, models to predict life-cycle performance of infrastructure systems are needed. In this chapter, deterioration in a typical RC highway bridge bent subject to EARTHQUAKES and corrosion of reinforcement is modeled. For this purpose we used a stochastic formulation that combines shock deterioration due to earthquakes and gradual deterioration due to corrosion. Three deterioration mechanisms are focused upon: loss of LATERAL stiffness of the bridge columns due to earthquakes, loss of lateral stiffness of the bridge columns due to corrosion, and loss of deformation capacity due to corrosion and low-cycle fatigue of longitudinal reinforcement. The results show that deterioration due to corrosion of reinforcement and seismic stiffness deterioration have a significant effect of the lifespan of the bridge bent. The effect of low-cycle fatigue damage is found to be insignificant on the expected lifespan of the bridge bent. The results also show that it is important to study the combined effect of corrosion and seismic damage. The obtained results are specific for the scenarios that are similar to the analyzed one (i.e., type of bent, regional seismicity, and corrosive environment) and thus observations/conclusions made in this study should not be directly extended to other deterioration scenarios. Infrastructure systems are complex systems and modeling their life cycle in the presence of multiple sophisticated and interacting deterioration processes is highly challenging. However, the benefits of continuing research in this area are also considerable. In order to advance the state-of-the-art, work is REQUIRED to model the interaction between various deterioration mechanisms, modeling non stationary deterioration processes and developing robust frameworks to incorporate laboratory data in the models. |

1 J of energy is equivalent to 1) 1.25 x 10^-19 eV 2) 6.25 x 10^18 eV3) 6.25 x 10^-19 eV4) 6.25 x 10^20 eV |
Answer» energy is equivalent to 6.25×10¹⁸ EV (electron-volt) [Option.2]Some EXTRA Information:-• Energy is defined as the capacity to do work. More the energy in a body, more is the work the body can do.• Energy is a scalar quanity.• The S.I. UNIT of energy is Joule [J] The C.G.S unit of energy is erg.• Other units of energy are electron volt [eV], calorie [cal] , kilowatt-hour [kWh].• → 1 ev = 1.6×10-19 J → 1 cal = 4.186 J → 1 kWh = 3.6×10⁶ J• Some FORMS of energy, AVAILABLE naturally or created artifically are as follows :-1. Chemical Energy2. Heat Energy3. Light Energy4. Electrical Energy5. Nuclear Energy6. Mechanical Energy |

Sequence of human by quantum mechanics ? @prasad634 |
Answer» understands what CONSCIOUSNESS is or how it works. Nobody understands quantum mechanics either. Could that be more than coincidence? For one thing, the mind seemed, to the GREAT discomfort of physicists, to force its WAY into early quantum theory. What's more, quantum computers are predicted to be capable of accomplishing things ordinary computers cannot, which reminds us of how our brains can achieve things that are still beyond artificial intelligence. "Quantum consciousness" is WIDELY derided as mystical woo, but it just will not go away. There are basically FOUR important principles of quantum mechanics, proven experimentally and which apply to the behavior of nuclear PARTICLES at small distances: the quanta of electromagnetic energy, the uncertainty principle, the Pauli exclusion principle, and the wave theory of particles of matter. |

Answer» (a) Above diagram shows Ray diagram when object keep outside the principal focus of a convex lens.(b) (i) If object is moved the lens, the image size will keep on INCREASING till the object reaches focus. After that, the size DECREASES but the image remains magnified. The image keeps moving away from the lens (on the opposite side of the lens) till the object reaches focus; after that the image is FORMED on the same side of the lens as the object. Whats d difference between supercharger n turbocharger in Automobile..?? |
Answer» A turbocharger relies on a vehicle's exhaust to spool up a TURBINE to power a compressor. The compressor then pulls in and feeds more AIR to an engine. On the other hand, a supercharger depends on the engine to rotate. It can be gear DRIVEN or belt driven, but the engine powers the unit in the END. |

A 100grams bullet is fired from a 10kg gun with a speed of 1000m/s .what is the speed of recoil of the gun. |
Answer» Mass of the bullet = 100 g = 0.1 kg Mass of the GUN = 10 kg Speed of the bullet = 1000 m/s To find : Recoil speed of the gun Solution : As no EXTERNAL force is acting on the system ( bullet + gun )the momentum of the system remains conserved . As per law of conservation of momentum ,Initial momentum of the system = Final momentum of the system As , initially the system ( bullet + gun) was at rest . As a RESULT , the initial momentum of the system will be zero . Hence ,Final momentum of the system = 0 here ,mg = mass of the gun vg = recoil speed of the gun MB = mass of the bullet vb = speed of the bullet Now let's SUBSTITUTE the given values in the above equation ,The recoil speed of the gun is - 10 m/s. |

What is force??? -----------------------------------------oye, he sir vagaire band kr ha... |
Answer» ysics, a force is any interaction that, when unopposed, will change the MOTION of an object. A force can cause an object with MASS to change its velocity, i.e., to accelerate. Force can also be described intuitively as a push or a pull. A force has both magnitude and DIRECTION, making it a vector quantity |

It is possible to strike out a single carom coin stacked one over the other without disturbing others. |
Answer» is possible to strike out a single carom coin stacked one over the other without disturbing others. If we place the carom coins stacked over the other on and strike the lowest coin with the striker with sufficient velocity then it is possible that the strike could strike out only the lowest coin without disturbing the REST.This happens due to inertia of rest. According to first law of Newton, a body remains at rest if INITIALLY is at rest or in motion if initially is in motion until and unless a net EXTERNAL force is applied on it.Some other EXAMPLES of inertia of rest are: If a vehicle moving at high speed is suddenly stopped then the passengers inside it fall forward. |
