Solve : Actually, yes, Vista SP1, screwed something on my computer? |
Answer» <html><body><p>Just discovered it <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/last-2782539" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about LAST">LAST</a> night. <br/>I haven't been using CDs for a while, and I wasn't aware something happened. Everything points to SP1.<br/>Any program, which deals with CDs got screwed. Strangely enough, playing video DVD was left in tact.<br/>This is what happened:<br/>- PowerISO - freezes itself, and a <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/computer-243299" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about COMPUTER">COMPUTER</a>, while starting<br/>- Magic ISO - same<br/>- Roxio - same<br/>- Winamp - same<br/>- CDBurnerXP - same<br/>- CloneCD - same<br/>- VLC <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/player-601487" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about PLAYER">PLAYER</a> - refuses to play CDs, plays DVDs OK<br/>Closing all of the above programs (except VLC), takes several Task Manager attempts, and when I try to restart computer, shutting it down, either takes for ever, or requires using power button.<br/><br/>All the above issues got resolved, by simply reinstalling all programs over the top.<br/><br/>However, one issue remains - autorun doesn't work.<br/>I employed all known to me tricks:<br/>- checked autoplay registry entries - OK<br/>- deleted upper-, lowerfilters (apparently SP1 reinstalled them)<br/>- checked Autoplay setting in Control Panel<br/>- uninstalled DVD burner<br/>- uninstalled IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers<br/>- tried M$ "autoplay <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/fix-991779" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about FIX">FIX</a>" - won't run<br/>NO DICE. It won't work.<br/><br/>If anyone has one more trick in a <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/sleeve-1211747" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about SLEEVE">SLEEVE</a>, I'd like to know.<br/>Oh, I just found out iTunes got screwed, as well, had to reinstall it.</p></body></html> | |
