Solve : sleep? |
Answer» Quote Yes. It is common to use the terms as if equal. The two are not equivalent in any way. They have completely different definitions both when it comes to Animals as well as when it comes to computers (As defined in the ACPI specification!). People getting confused between them doesn't suddenly make the terms interchangable.ACPI specification https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Configuration_and_Power_Interface Quote Intel, Microsoft and Toshiba originally developed the standard, while HP and Phoenix also participated later. In October 2013, the original developers of the ACPI standard agreed to transfer all assets to the UEFI Forum, in which all future development will take place.[3] The latest version of the standard is "Revision 6.1", which was published by the UEFI Forum in March 2016.[4]Quote G1, Sleeping: Divided into four states, S1 through S4:The above shows Hibernation to be a subset of Sleep. It is the fourth state of Sleep. Recent article from MS: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/bringup/overview-of-windows-support-for-acpi-5-0 Last Updated: 7/30/2016 Quote Note Windows supports a subset of functionality defined in the ACPI 5.0 specification. Windows does not have an explicit check against higher revisions of the firmware. Windows will support firmware that conforms to higher revisions of the ACPI specification if this firmware contains the necessary support, as described in this design guide.I did not see a reference thee to hibernation. But elsewhere there are links that say Win 10 has it maybe. http://www.techrepublic.com/article/investigating-sleep-states-in-windows-10/ Quote Sleep statesSo there are five levels of sleep? Quote from: soybean on October 27, 2016, 05:36:19 PM They are not equal at all, in my view. Sleep is a low power state from which the computer can quickly be awoken. Hibernation is a fully powered down state and startup from hibernation requires significantly more time than sleep; startup time may be similar to a normal startup (startup from normal shutdown). That looks a logical explanation. So does that mean that the sleep mode consumes less energy to that of the hibernation mode? Quote from: Lorraine walsh on October 28, 2016, 06:54:01 AM That looks a logical explanation. So does that mean that the sleep mode consumes less energy to that of the hibernation mode? No, it's the opposite. As I said in my previous post, hibernation is a fully powered down state. In other WORDS, you can unplug the computer, after it's gone into hibernation, and not LOSE any of your last WORK session (that you saved when the computer went into hibernation) when you restore power. In contrast, sleep (sometimes also called Standby) mode does REQUIRE some power. If you unplug a computer in sleep mode, you will lose whatever apps/programs/windows you had open when it went to sleep. For example, if you had a web browser open with 10 tabs open and a word processing program/app open when the computer went to sleep and you pulled the plug on it, you'd lose your work session; it would not be restored upon restoring power and starting your computer again. But, with hibernation, you would not lose your work session; it would be restored the next time your turn on your computer. Note: hibernation does momentarily require more power when it is saving a session, compared to going into to sleep mode. Sleep mode occurs immediately when it is invoked. Hibernation takes a minute or two or longer, depending on your hardware specs and system configuration, because it saves a complete image of your work session to the hard drive. Quote from: Geek-9pm on October 27, 2016, 09:31:39 PM So there are five levels of sleep? But, computer users have control over sleep and hibernation. That's two levels. So, from a practical perspective, we have two levels, not five. |

Solve : Bluetooth Mouse has trouble re-connecting (immediately) to a specific Laptop? |

Solve : Windows 11 dual monitor issue? |
Answer» I upgraded to Windows 11, with no apparent installation issues. I USE a laptop with an EXTERNAL monitor as a second display. Under Windows 10, the windows were stable where I put them, but now, when I click in the other display, the windows jump around and it takes MANY clicks to get them sorted. This happens every TIME. One common use is to have a full-screen program on the laptop, with a browser on the second, to use as a reference. I have TRIED to find any relevant settings in the System->Display section, but cannot resolve this. Is there something different or missing in the Windows 11 settings? It's been too long since I set it up in Windows 10 for me to remember. |

Solve : Win 10 stops opening? |
Answer» I have a duo system on separate hd's, Win 10 on new SSD hd and Win 7 on a older Sata hd. I CHOOSE via the Bios on which I want to use for the day. Lately, when i choose Win 10, I see the revolving loading circle and the next thing I see, win 7 appearing. I cannot understand what is GOING on here. Is my new SSD at fault, the Bios screwed up or what. I did GO through the Repair mode with my Microsoft tool program and it worked only for one day. Does anyone have any suggestions?to be rude, I would say stop using dual boot. But, I would say that something is WRONG with the mbr record on one of the disk. In the bios you change priority of disk I presume? It's not really necessary to do that since both os know to do dual boot (first older os, then newer). Anyway...I would check that mbr boot records... |

Solve : Files And Folders? |
Answer» An app I use to encrypt files with, Kryptel, has a problem deleting old files. It encrypts and decrypts fine but keeps GETTING blocked by Windows when it comes to deleting the old file. I cannot delete the old file either even as Administrator. I have gone in and changed the attributes on the files and TAKEN off the "read only" part but Windows puts it right back on again even before I leave the file. Kryptel TELLS me it is windows blocking them and I believe it. There MUST be something I am not doing or have done to make windows do this blocking. |

Solve : Wont boot up, wont repair, cant reset all because I improperly turned off? |
Answer» What: Dell Inspiron 22 - 3000 Series All-in-One - Model: 3277 In any Linux, once you have downloaded the ISO image and verified its authenticity by checking its md5sum you can burn it to a DVD or a CD using any Linux optical burning tool. Just make sure you burn it as an image and not data otherwise it will not be bootable. You can also burn it with most Widows CD burners that can do a bookable media. This BIOS must allow any OS to boot up. This is the best I can say to you at this point. Thank you for your response! Unfortunately, words like BOOKABLE and AGNOSTIC are like reading Greek to me ... I have no idea what they mean with regard to computers. I am an old lady. Not as old as Betty White was but old enough, and, I do not understand computer things unless they are spelled out to me step-by-step on what to do and where to find it and how to do it. If you have the patience to deal with this old lady are you willing to give it a try??bookable = bootable agnostic = diagnostic Geek-9pm uses a dictation tool to write posts and sometimes it writes out confusing words. Quote from: newgranny on January 05, 2022, 11:01:41 PM Thank you for your response. How do I do this since windows will not open? All I have access to are the blue screens I have listed in my post. Is there a way to do this from there? The settings described are in the BIOS Setup Program. You enter that by pressing F2 at the right time when prompted when the computer is first turning on and showing the Dell Logo. I would guess that the HDD itself may be failing, though. If you are very lucky it's just a bit of corruption though. When it comes to HDDs having problems, I've learned to never be hopeful, as that always leads to disappointment. If the data is truly important you need to take it to somebody more technically inclined with the expertise to possibly get those important files you want to keep and put them on your Flash Drive. Though the drive being encrypted makes that a tricky proposition. Thanks BC for correcting my mistakes. Now ask for me, I am an old man who has been using computers for many many years. But now that the technology is just getting too fast for me. My remarks about The Puppy Linux operating system where intended to be a helpful tool for almost anybody that has some difficulty with understanding computer hardware. That particular program has been worked over by volunteers so that it usually works the first time on almost any computer that’s equipped with an Intel processor or the equivalent made by somebody else. At the moment I am dictating this on another voice recognition system that I am trying out. Even though it is new to me, it is easier to use than Windows 10. Of course, I am actually using Windows 10 as I dictate this, but I am not using the dictation that is built into Windows 10. This is an alternative program made by another company and if it works out good for me I’ll tell other people more about it. Right now, it is too soon to tell he was going to be the best choice. Anyway, here on this Farm you will find many people willing to help you for free. Nowadays it’s hard to find almost anything that really is free. Hope you get your computer to working soon. H again, To access the built in diagnostics you carry out the instructions as described here https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ae/000181163/how-to-enter-the-built-in-diagnostics-32-bit-diagnostics-supportassist-epsa-epsa-and-psa If the diagnostics pass then there is a problem with Windows which we can address after you have checked the hardware. Geek, under normal circumstances, Linux would be a reasonable (if perhaps advanced!) option. But, in this case, the drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, so it won't be accessible from Linux for the purpose of file recovery.Thank you all for your responses, your suggestions are quite helpful! I restarted the computer and held down the F12 key at the initial Dell screen and it opened a blue screen where I chose DIAGNOSTICS. I read the instructions that Lisa_maree provided in the link from Dell to be sure I was doing it right, then I ran the hardware diagnostics. It took about 5 minutes to complete and it said everything checked out okay (paraphrasing). Then, it asked me if I wanted it to check memory and said it was reccommended so I said YES. It was going to take a few hours to complete so I let it run overnight and I went to bed. Well, guess what? I woke up this morning to a box that says ALL TESTS PASSED. VALIDATION :89949. WOO HOO!!! Now what should I do?I tried to reset to an earlier date and it failed. The pop up box reccommended I run chkdsk /R. There is a box that says COMMAND PROMPT ... should I click on that box and run chkdsk /R???Yes...Note there is a space between chkdsk and the /r switch... Do not interrupt it.I clicked on the command prompt box and it opened a black box that says: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19041.1] (c) 2019 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. x:/windows/system32> and curser is flashing. ** What is x: drive? I am not chkdsking c: drive? Do I type the command where the curser is flashing or hit enter and go to the next line? Please tell me exactly what to type so I do not screw this up **I figured out how to run chkdsk. Nothing changed. I went to the Dell website, found and downloaded their Dell OS Recovery Tool (thinking I could back download it onto my husbands notebook, plug it into my Dell Inspiron, back up my files, and reinstall Windows 10). The problem is ... I kept getting a message while running the tool (at the end of Step 3): The ISO file is currupt or damaged. And, the program stopped. A dozen times. Ugh. I contacted someone from Dell via their Facebook page, via telephone, and via their community forum on their website. All three times, I was told I have to talk to a rep and it will be fee based because my computer is out of warranty. Even though the problem is I am having a problem with their FREE download. I am normally a calm person but this really ticked me off! I ended up yelling at the last person so I dont think I will be getting any help from them. If anyone knows what else I can do, please let me know. Thank you.Did you run the tool as Administrator? That is all I can think of regarding that tool. However, it might be good luck it did not work, since the Dell Recovery Tool completely wipes the existing data on the drive. From what I've understood that isn't what you want, or you could have done the clean reset option available in the Windows Startup repair menus it throws you into. 1. You said you ran chkdsk. Looking through what has been noted here, did you run it on your harddrive? It looks like you noted there was that X: drive. X: drive is a "fake" drive that contains what is known as the preboot environment for diagnostics, it basically built in memory when you boot into it. chkdsk usually runs against the current drive by default, so maybe it ran against this In-memory drive? To run it against the hard drive, you want to get to that "black box" again- the Command Prompt, for reference and use this command: Code: [Select]chkdsk C: /r 2. Once you are sure it ran against the HDD (it will take a *very* long time, typically several hours, though I've seen it run for as long as 12.) see if the system will now boot normally. 3. If not, we can try the System file checker. In the same command prompt: Code: [Select]sfc /scannow It should tell you if there were integrity problems, and what it does about them. Now I must confess it has been a while since I've had to run the sfc tool so I don't know if it might get stuck because it wants to repair a file but wants a DVD or CD or something, I have to imagine they updated that since I last used it to get that information from other sources but it will at least indicate if it finds a corrupted file. If it still throws you into the same "recovery" menu after restarting, there is more you can try from within the aforementioned command prompt: Code: [Select]bootrec /rebuildbcd This will take some time to complete. It scans the disk for Windows installations and attempts to rebuild the Windows "Boot Configuration Data". It might say "Number of WIndows Installations found: 0". Don't worry about that. Or, well... you can worry about that because it's not ideal but it might be fixed by the next two commands: Code: [Select]bootrec /fixmbr and Code: [Select]bootrec /fixboot And then reboot. Maybe it will let you in. Fundamentally you've got two options here: either fix the existing Windows Installation (Which is what we are hoping to do above), or, find some way to back up the contents of the drive you want to keep, and then do a clean install of Windows. The way I do the latter, I remove the Drive from the computer in question, attach it to another machine (either directly where possible or using an external enclosure device) and then I use Macrium Reflect to make an Image of the drive. Then I wipe the drive and reinstall the Operating System. If there is information/data I want from the old drive, I can grab it from the image file I made. This could include stuff I hadn't even considered or forgot was on the drive until months later. However this approach is of course quite a bit more technically challenging and requires extra equipment in your case (I doubt you have a SATA USB Enclosure sitting around...) |

Solve : PC Crashing - "Impossible" to fix? |
Answer» Hello guys.
The issue: PC sometimes randomly crashes while a screen recording software is open (doesn't have to be recording). There is a way to force this problem to happen, described below. How to replicate: 1. Start OBS (or other screen recording software) 2. Start DOOM Eternal 3. PC will crash before getting to main menu Additional details: 1. It crashes in other games aswell (only RARELY, once even in chrome). Doom method has 100% accuracy. 2. The crash will never happen without screen capture software 3. If Doom Eternal is QUICKLY set to Windowed mode when launching (alt+enter), the game works. When its set to fullscreen at any time, PC crashes instantly. Now, what I tried: 1) RMA the CPU (5900x -> 5900x) 2) Upgrade Motherboard (MSI B450A-Pro -> MSI B550 Tomahawk) 3) New SSD & Windows reinstall 4) Nvidia DDU 5) Turn off XMP & Precision boost 6) Replace Power Supply (Seasonic Gold 750W -> Corsair RM850X) 7) new GPU Bios sent to me by vendor 8) Reseating the GPU 9) Taking out 2 ram 10) Buying new RAM (Crucial 3000Mhz -> Kingston 3200Mhz) 11) Replace GPU (RTX 3080Ti -> GTX 1050) There are way more things I tried that I just don't remember now, so feel free to ask ------------- The Windows EVENTVIEWER Memory DUMPS / Logs Many times, I will just get "Dump file creation failed due to an error during dump creation", but sometimes I can get the actual dump files to create. they are below: dxdiag - https://pastebin.com/raw/tivm41xP WinDbg output of memory dump - https://pastebin.com/raw/FHJyzemA -------- This is most of the info I can think of for now, if you need literally anything else please ask. Does anyone please have any clue what is happening here?Hi Can you do a speccy report and copy the url for the report here. Also what Bios version is the motherboard running it needs to be revision A7 for your CPU. Quote from: Lisa_maree on October 09, 2021, 12:50:09 AM Hi Hello. I would like to update. The issue was Processor Ryzen 9 5900x. Even though it was the first thing I RMA'd, I received another bad one. After the first RMA I thought the problem must be somewhere else and replaced everything in my PC. While it was the cpu all along. Bad unit twice in a row, yeah thats a no go. Not recommending Ryzen 9 to anyone, I will stick to my 5600x for now (which seems to work fine)A bios update would likely have fixed it. That was one of the things the speccy report would have shown. Quote from: Lisa_maree on October 14, 2021, 03:24:47 PM A bios update would likely have fixed it. That was one of the things the speccy report would have shown. Hello, i noticed a reply, just wanted to provide info that I did actually try 4 different bios versions (forgot to include that in my troubleshooting steps) and it didn't fix the problem, really only swapping the cpu did |

Solve : found.000 to recover files? |
Answer» Recently my Acer ES512 laptop with Windows 10 decided not to boot. Trying to refresh it, I was informed my drive was "LOCKED". While I was rooting around on the Internet I found someone who suggested running chkdsk. But when I did, it took ALL of the files from \Windows as well as ALL of my files from my personal |USER area and deleted my username. But it created a hidden file called found.000. In it, I can see some files are for Windows and some of them are for me in directories named dir####.CHK and dir_#####.chk. But there are more than 7000 of these and another 4000 or more hidden. There are also ~27,000 files named file####.chk. I tried copying them to a USB but it ran out of room for the filenames after a quarter of my 16 GB USB drive had been written to. I have no Windows, but using the Recovery USB I have access to a limp FORM of DOS. I ran diskpart and it recognizes all my paritions and tells me they are healthy. The DIRTY bit has not been set either. I found unchk.exe and filechk.exe which are supposed to restore the files, but they only work in Windows, not DOS. Does anyone know a DOS program that will restore those files??? how old is the hard drive? not that it really matters, bad sectors (many) have been found and the bad area locked down and whatever was residing there has been renamed found000.chk and so on. all you data is now broken across many found000.chk files and recovering them would be bigger than Ben-Hur. but if you have no backups or system images, that is all you have got. sadly I don't know of any software that will do it for you - but thinking about it, how could it? it doesn't no how to 'stick' all those .CHK files together. all that disk I/O would have buggered up the FAT, MFT and NTFS tables (however the drive was formatted) where the file indexes would live on a healthy drive. |

Solve : Best laptop drive partition setup to use? |
Answer» Apologies, I didn't know which part of the forum to post this. Dell had to do some things to the BIOSThanks Dave, I guess I was checking if the setup seems right. r.e. the BIOS and Dell, when I did my first Dell Update which was for the BIOS, the laptop wouldn't boot anymore. Dell Support said I had to download something Dell sent me to a flash disk and when I BOOTED, had to tweak a lot of settings to get it to boot again. Again, I've no idea what they did or if there is any files/partitions that were created. Thanks again. |

Solve : Making PC-Linq work between Win10 Pcs? |
Answer» I am NOT asking how to copy data between PCs - I'm asking about PC-linq or an equivalent. I still have a PC-Linq 'bridging - cross-over' cable that used to allow data transfer between 98E and XP in an effective and user-friendly way. I would like to use it between Win10 PCs. There is a 2018 post on the web https://answers.info....ith-windows-10 that claims it still works for Win10, provided it is installed and run As Administrator, and that the Compatibility Mode is set (for WinXP). I have done that and when it failed, I ran the Troubleshooter which came BACK with 'Mdi is incompatible'. Knowing that PCs often tell diagnostic lies, I figure that the software could be inadequate or any number of other gremlins could be causing the failure. I already know about work-arounds - the easiest being to use a USB-stick - and ethernet-wise, I KNOW that Team Viewer also works. After a great deal of effort, I've had NO success with networking through ethernet cable, so spare me reminders about THAT option. The only MODERN version of PC-Linq I could find, from USBGear https://www.usbgear.....fer-cable.html, has user comments at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GIGNVC which range from EXCELLENT to ABYSMAL - it does not work for me. I'm really NOT after work-arounds, or asking how to transfer data between PCs, but in finding out if anybody-out-there can reproduce the success in getting PC-Linq to work with Win10 which was claimed by the post I quoted. I want to cast a wide net by asking for help in forums. It may be that the Windows 10 systems that it worked with was Windows 10 32-bit edition vs 64 bit so, if you have 2 systems available for testing, INSTALL Windows 10 32-bit and see if you get better success with it. There are some differences in legacy support between 32 and 64 bit Windows 10 OS. Some older games run ok on Windows 10 32- bit but fail to run on 64-bit. Good Luck!I asked the question because I want to connect a x32Win10ProV21H1 and a x64Win10ProV21H1, so I did install it in both 32 and 64 bits.If that's not working at the SYSTEM that is 64-bit, can the 64-bit system be built up as 32-bit... No guarantee that it will work, but if it does work I'd think they are both running 32-bit. |

Solve : Creating recovery media in Windows 10? |
Answer» Greetings! it is horribly filled with trash to the limit. Quote from: comda on October 21, 2021, 12:24:05 PM i want to preserve the OEm install on a DVD for down the road. Why do you want to preserve a backup of the OS that is "horribly filled with trash to the limit"? Quote from: patio on October 21, 2021, 11:45:51 AM If Win 10 was successfully installed and ran proper you can simply clean install Win 10...the registration is in the BIOS now... comda - You are here, again. Create Windows 10 installation media (Download tool now) Quote from: comda on October 21, 2021, 12:24:05 PM because i dont want to necessarily run windows anyways Completely unrelated to the topic. Quote from: evilfantasy on October 21, 2021, 04:20:45 PM Why do you want to preserve a backup of the OS that is "horribly filled with trash to the limit"? Thank you for all that lol. I want to preserve a copy in case the original owner wants all this Acer crap with it. I plan on installing a clean install of Windows for the owner, but they indicated that they might want to dual boot. Either way, i just wanted to create recovery DVD"s like you once could from the restore partition, so i nuke it all without worry of corrupting the recovery partition when installing a new OS. Windows restore options are very unreliable. And slow. You are better off with backup or imaging software like EaseUS Todo Backup. Although the installation media link above is the go-to option now. You can install from scratch or do an in-place upgrade/repair. It's much more reliable and much faster than the built in Windows options. Are you are just worried about their personal files/folders? If so just put them on a cheap flash drive. Imaging the entire OS for personal files/folders seems a bit ambitious. Imaging an OS filled with crap just for personal files/folders is very ambitious. Anyway if you want the disk just go here. (Windows 7) Create a system repair disc. (Windows 10) Create a recovery drive.I think i am being misunderstood. I dont CARE about personal files, nor the current install. I will be doing a fresh OS install. Back in the day when you bought a XP/Vista/7 or 8 PC there came a recovery partition like this machine has. The computer had software that allowed you to copy that recovery partition to a DVD so that you could nuke the entire drive and use it for whatever. I want to do a clean install of windows myself through a USB stick i have. That is IRRELEVANT though. I want to simply create recovery DVD's so that IF the OWNER of this machine prefers to use the crap install that Acer gave them, they have that on the DVD's to install on the machine for a future date. You can use the Windows 7 method on Windows 10. Open 'Control Panel' > Backup and Restore (Windows 7) > Create a system image (upper left) How well it will work is anybody's guess. MS has focused their energy on the installation media method. Quote from: comda on October 22, 2021, 02:11:57 PM I think i am being misunderstood. That's my specialty... Quote from: evilfantasy on October 22, 2021, 02:35:05 PM You can use the Windows 7 method on Windows 10. Open 'Control Panel' > Backup and Restore (Windows 7) > Create a system image (upper left) Well thats my issue haha. All these manufacturers had their own software. I want to find out if they have that on this machine as i dont see it. The last one I did years ago was done through Toshiba back up and recovery center. It created official legit disks, the same that would have been once included in the box. For Acer machines the program you are looking for is "Acer eRecovery Management" which will create the factory restore discs from the information in the HIDDEN partition. If it's not available than it's probably not an OEM install.Thats what i was after! Thanks BC_programmer! ill double check tonight. I think its the OEM install but you neever know. |

Solve : I need help as I can't connect to some internet sites? |
Answer» I can't connect to some internet sites. It says that the site can't be REACHED. I tried getting rid of the proxy server but it didn't work. A few sites work and some don't. I would try Windows Network Diagnostics that's suggested to me when the site says it can't be reached but that doesn't work for some REASON. It says an error has happened while it was troubleshooting. I don't what to do. I've unplugged the modem for 2 to 5 mins. and that doesn't work. I don't know what else to do. It can be a problem with secure CONNECTIONS. This would explain why some websites work (they use unsecure HTTP connections) and some don't (they use secure HTTPs connections).1) Click START and enter: CMD |

Solve : not a techie, I need help with a glitch that is causing some things to stop work? |
Answer» I'm 66 so not up to speed like a teenager. A few days ago my computer stopped letting me reply to posts on Facebook, won't let me ADJUST volume on videos on FB or youtube, won't let me skip ahead or back on videos. If I try to share something from youtube on FB it won't respond. If I reply to a post on FB when I hit enter nothing happens. I have Windows 10. I have tried SYSTEM Restore but it won't work EITHER. What can I do?Try loading Facebook in a DIFFERENT Browser and see how that goes, personally I had to switch from FIREFOX,because every time it updates strange things happen to me similar as to what you describe. Used to love Firefox but now is a real PAIN. Incidentally you don`t say what browser you use,so just guessing here?I use Microsoft Edge which worked just fine up until a few days ago. I have noticed everything works on my tablet and phone, different browsers. I will try changing browsers but that's a hassle since everything else is on Microsoft edge.Just install different browser, then copy Facebook Link from Edge over to different browser only take a few minutes no hassle really, series of elimination ? |

Solve : Multiple Stop Errors and BSOD over last two weeks? |
Answer» I'm using a Sager NP8378F2-S (CLEVO PB71DF2-G) with Windows 10 that I bought from XOTICPC.com in February 2021. Over the last two weeks I've received multiple Stop Errors and BSOD, forcing my computer to restart. The messages are "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" Unfortunately, the only changes I remember recently making to my computer are installing Zoom and Malwarebytes, both which I have uninstalled. XOTICPC SUPPORT suspects hardware failure and they're asking me to mail the laptop back to them for repairs. I'd like to try to solve the issue before sending it to them. Thank you for any help. OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit, Build 19042, INSTALLED 20210216181847.000000-300 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10875H CPU 2.30GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 165 Stepping 2, CPU Count: 16 Total Physical RAM: 16 GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Hard Drives: C: 1862 GB (1165 GB Free); D: 931 GB (671 GB Free); Motherboard: Notebook PB50_70DFx,DDx, VER Not Applicable, s/n Not Applicable SYSTEM: INSYDE Corp., ver MIDERN - 0, s/n Not Applicable Antivirus: Windows Defender, DisabledWell, windows 10 sometimes installs some UPDATES that can (and will) break the system. And cause bsods. So, you can uninstall the latest updates or rollback the system to previous state. You can also test the memory (memtest via usb drive or dvd disk). To be sure, run the test over night. You can also view bsod (bluescreenvieweer from nirsoft) to see if there is a culprit. Update bios, drivers (graphic and chipset, network) won't hurt either. Sorry for the late response. Multiple and varied BSOD's do indeed indicate hardware failure. Could be anything from the cpu to the motherboard or something else. I agree you should return the laptop under warranty. |

Solve : What SEARCH options are thorough ?? |
Answer» Neither SEARCH in Start, nor SEARCH in TOP right of the Explorer screen, can find ALL the '\quarantine\' FOLDERS - whereas I can find four 'manually'. Is there some other SEARCH mechanism/PROGRAM that is more THOROUGH than those two ? I've tried the search program called 'EVERYTHING', and it does no better. |

Solve : Audio Booster? |
Answer» Does anyone know of a simple audio booster for my pc that will do no harm to my system? By that I MEAN change vital components of my pc. For example: I tried FxSound. After I installed it I lost all function in my speakers and a vital audio driver as well. When I look to boost my sound I tend to buy an external device that connects to the audio out of the computer and have that be the driver for the sound to be louder and richer sound. If the sound chip/driver combination isn't of a high enough quality then I'd install a sound card that will produce a higher quality sound output and then connect that to a quality sound system that takes an auxiliary input. No worries of damaging the computer this way or dealing with driver INSANITY if going with a name brand sound card that has drivers for the version of Windows your running. |

Solve : My HP pavillion dv6-6145dx laptop keeps shutting off even with the power cable? |
Answer» Hello everyone, My HP pavillion dv6 laptop keeps SHUTTING down after I installed windows 10. It was working fine for a while, but then windows started logging me out everytime I tried to log in. I tried to reset my pc but windows kept logging me out and eventually just started shutting down all by itself. I remember SEEING the screen saying "locking" at one POINT and I have never seen that before. I tried to reinstall windows with a USB but the laptop just forces itself to shutdown before windows can finish installing. I always have the power cord plugged in so I thought it could not be a power problem, but then I decided to take out the battery and run the laptop using the powercord alone and it shuts down a few seconds after powering on. I am supposed to be able to run the laptop using the powercord alone and no battery right? Am I not getting enought power to my laptop? MAYBE because I am in europe using an european to american power converter? the converter says 10A max 250V- . and , my power cable says input : 100-240v - 1.5A 50-60HZ and output: DC 19v --- 4.62 A |

Solve : Free video/audio recorder? |
Answer» Hello, I am looking for a RECORDER that records both video and sound. I tried using the X-box game recorder on win10 but it records the audio through the desktop microphone and the quality of the audio is very bad as it PICKS up ambient sounds from the room also. Could someone ADVISE me and direct me to such a recorder? Or maybe I don't know how to correctly use the game recorder but I did look for options in the app. Thanks.Audacity will record sound but for a video you will need a video capture card. You can find one on Amazon for about $15. This will record both audio and video.Well, I live in the Philippines and getting a card through Amazon is not an option. Is there no App that will do both? FYI, I found plenty of free recording apps on the net, some with restrictions and without. No help from this forumTURMS OUT 4k VIDEO VOWNLOADER IS THE BEST. Solve : Installing Windows 10 on new desktop when needing to reformat SSD? |
Answer» Hey there, sorry if this is out of place as I'm unfamiliar with the forum but I'm at a loss here. I'm not great with computers and ordered a prebuilt, which was supposed to have Windows 10 pre-installed, but as far as I can tell, it was not. On startup it detected the SSD I have installed but did not list it as an available boot device and just left me to mess around in BIOS settings. I went ahead and set up a USB in order to boot from so I could install Windows, but now I'm getting a message SAYING that I cannot install Windows ONTO any of the internal SSD partitions because they are all MBR and need to be GPT. |

Solve : Win 10 problem? |
Answer» I've had a dual setup for a couple of years now, 7 and 10 on the same hard drive. Recently i had upgraded to the 21h1 VERSION and all went well for a couple of weeks. Now, for some reason i cannot open Win 10. All the repair options failed. I want to reinstall 21h1, but LEERY if it would make me lose Win 7. In FACT, it seems the only way I could upgrade is using win 7. I tried the 21h1 TOOL upgrade and GET nervous when it gives me 2 options only to install...on existing pc ( which I want ) or on another pc. My question is how does the program know that i have an existing corrupted version and it should be overwritten with the new installation, and not jepardize my Win 7? |
