Solve : average CPU temp? |
Answer»

My computer skills are average at best. I have windows 8. I have Speccy from Piriform. My CPU and motherboard temps are ( CPU 45-57 ) ( motherboard 44-55 ) I don't run any games at all. Are these temp,s ok ? Thank,s ChuckLook up the operating temps for that CPU...Temperatures at idle are pretty meaningless, you need to check them when the system is under high load. Those temperatures seem fine to me. If you're really concerned, make sure that there is PLENTY of airflow going through the case. Dust and dirt can build up and prevent your computer from cooling properly.First off, I'd have to know, is that temp in C or F? You didn't bother to SAY.
Then I'd have to know, what CPU are you using? You didn't say that either.
For instance, Intel CPU's run a lot hotter than AMD cpu's.

My own AMD, X2, 5200+ cpu runs at just above body temperature. My body!
By laying my finger on the cpu heatsink, even under the heaviest load, I feel only a very slight warmth.
The OEM cooling fan keeps it nice and cool. I've kept that fan going now, for 9 years, with ANNUAL maintenance.

Once a year, I take out my CPU cooler and wash it thoroughly with soap and WATER, cleaning off all the accumulated dirt and the old heat sink grease, from the cpu and heatsink.
Then I very carefully clean and re-lubricate the fan. After applying new heat sink grease, I re-install the fan to the heatsink and the heatsink to the cpu.
Works for me!!!

Why are you fixating on the cpu temp? There are so many more important things to do.

| |
