Solve : Black Screen, nothing at all?

All i know is that it's got Windows 8 already on it when he bought it. He tried 2 down grade to Windows 7. Now, when you turn it on there's nothing happening at all.<br/> You can see very faintly that something's working but the screen is so very, very dark to make out what. Will it be anything to do with graphics. The sound's there. <br/> I'm afraid i don't know anything about the laptop.
