Solve : Can't figure out what's going on with playing video from FB? |
Answer»

My husband's laptop is Windows 8. The computer is a Dell, Processor: Intel(R)Core(TM) i5-3210M [emailprotected] 2.50Ghz, RAM 8.00 GB, 64-bit operating system. I hope that's all I need to tell you. The problem is when he goes onto Facebook there are videos people post (you've seen them) and sometimes they will play just fine, and sometimes they don't play at all. You can hear the sound but the video is black. I have tried to make it work, by changing how Adobe works and numerous other little things I could think of, but nothing works. I am less computer challenged than he is (but basically I am computer stupid) and I am completely stumped on this one. I use Vista on my computer and not all that familiar with Windows 8. He is using Windows Internet Explorer 10. Hoping this is an easy fix, can anyone help me get these videos to work?

Thanks in advance!!!

Debby
Do you mean Windows 8.1, or is he really still using Windows 8? And, why Internet Explorer 10? The latest version, 11, was released a long time ago. I'm pretty sure he is using Windows 8. As for IE 11, he wouldn't know the difference as he is really not a computer person. I don't use his laptop much and I never THOUGHT about putting 11 on. Is it that much better? I mean, like what difference does it make? I use 9 on Vista, don't see any difference from my 9 or his 10.
Debby.. Goto www.Adobe.com
Download Adobe AIR and Adobe Shockwave Player
That should do itWhat does she need Adobe Air for ? ?Quote from: debby on July 28, 2014, 02:39:28 PM

I'm pretty sure he is using Windows 8. Is your husband's computer not getting updates from Microsoft? Now, granted, I can't say that getting all the updates will make a difference with the issue here, but the updates from Microsoft should normally be installed as they come since many of them are security-related.

To see what version of Windows he has, open File Explorer, right click on This PC, and select Properties. The exact version of Windows will be shown under a CAPTION titled Windows Edition. To see the version of IE, open IE, click on Help (on the menu bar), and select About Internet Explorer.

You might try deleting Browsing History in IE. You'll see that option on the Tools menu (on the menu bar).

Also, check to see whether he has the latest version of Flash Player. A way to do that is to go to https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. If the latest version is installed, you will see You have version 14,0,0,145 installedYou know what...my husband's laptop is Windows 7. I thought it was 8. I am going to delete temp internet files, cookies, and install IE 11 and see what that does for me.
Quote from: debby on August 06, 2014, 09:42:46 AM
You know what...my husband's laptop is Windows 7.
