I could use some advice I can not get command prompt to run as administrator. When I right click the cmd icon in start menu, and select “run as administrator” I get a message that states “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. CREATE an association in the Set Association control panel.”If I select cmd properties and COMPATIBILITY all the boxes are greyed out including the “run as administrator” in the privilege level section. Are you not an Administrator? Thanks for reply
I am right clicking the CMD icon in start menu. It does the same thing in C:\windows\system32\cmd in explorer. As I stated before I have also tried it from explorer C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe.I have always been able and still can run cmd by left clicking but this does not give admin privileges. I believe the problem is connected to the selection of cmd properties and compatibility greyed out “run this program as administrator”box in the in the privilege level section.
Also in vista if you select a "cmd" in the vista start/search box it will display the cmd icon at the top when you press enter.
