Solve : Computer Reboots? |
Answer»

Last night, I installed RivaTuner to try to control my fan on my video card, because it seems to always spin at the same speed and I want it to adjust according to the temperature. RivaTuner did NOTHING, so I tried to INSTALL nTune. About halfway through the installation, the computer just rebooted. Once it turned back on, it rebooted within 1 minute of the desktop coming up. I shut it off, and this morning I tried "DISABLE automatic restart on system failure". This did nothing for some reason, it just rebooted again. Then I tried the last known working configuration, that seems to have fixed it, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but does anyone know what the *censored* just happened? And should I reinstall all my nVidia stuff because nTune is half installed? My specs:

HP Pavilion a6000n PC
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core PROCESSOR 4200+ 2.21 GHz
1 GB RAM
XFX 8600 GT XXX 256 MB
Windows XP ProYou're gonna need to re-boot into safemode and get rid of rivatune as it appears to be banging heads with whatever else you have installed and you risk CPU damage if you continue to run it this way...I got rid of it right away when I got it to stop rebooting, I was thinking the same thing. I also deleted the half-installed nTune and REINSTALLED the drivers. Everything seems to be fine, the processor and video card are idling at 50 degrees and the hard drive is idling at 40.
For all the apps you are constantly trying out i'd say you're a great candidate for Total Uninstall...
Might save you some grief down the road.I don't really try out that many programs. This is the first time I've had problems like this.

| |
