Answer»

however it will boot up in safe mode. I am running windows XP sp2 i use avg for a virus scan and have used malwarebytes anti maleware scan religously. I have tried SYSTEM restore and no hope. Iam not to sure what more info you need please help!!! I kniow how to get AROUND inside my computer pretty well just not an expert. i also have a laptop restore disk that i made when i first bought my pc but have no real win cd
If it runs normal in safemode chances are it's a bad/faulty driver...
Have you installed any recently ? ?
no i havent installed anything new latley. Do you know how i could check my drivers to see if there is a faulty one?Open Control Panel/Device Manager and look for any Yellow ! or ?'s...i did that in safe mode before they all look fine. I just checked again and same all ok. I just tried a program called device doctor it said i had 24 outdated drivers? Not sure i trust it thoI don't trust or use any Driver apps...
Why not update to SP3??I agree with Patio. Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking/ Control Panel/Device Manager/click the + sign next to each device / right-click each device and choose "Update driver". LET it go to the Internet and look.
Alan <>< I guess I should clarify the problem too when it starts up i get the windows screen with the little timer line going across it comes to a point then slows down and the computer turns itself off .OK I'm now at the end.i have tried all your suggestions including upgrading to Sp3 still all the same actions. it will boot in safe mode only ran virus scan and maleware scan nothing major in either. the drivers all seem to be in order any other ideas would be helpful and very appreciated.I

Not sure to be honest, But personally i'd back-up data (if possible in Safe Mode) then re-format or REPAIR, if it gives you that option.

| |
