Solve : Corrupted File - Computer Crashed.? |
Answer»

I've been having some issues with my COMPUTER since I bought it. It came with Vista, but I had put XP back on it. It's been working alright, minus crashing a couple times for a few days - apparently overheating and the such.

The computer is an Emachines T5088, all the standard things minus an upgrade to the RAM and graphics card. The graphics card is a Nvidia GeoForce 5200, and the RAM is maxxed at 2 Gigs.

Today I came home from work and noticed right away the fan was going non-stop. I sat down and was looking at a Blue screen.

Not knowing what any of this meant, I took some pictures with my digital camera...

Pic One: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/Wolfhero/S1050303.jpg

I restarted it and got this screen:

Pic Two: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/Wolfhero/S1050307.jpg

Then I accidentally hit the down arrow. The computer kept trying to reboot and my monitor went black. That's where it is stuck at now...

Help?on the second pictre linki, it is telling you that WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\config\SYSTEM is corrupted.

(A) Can you get the computer to start up all now? It'll hit some point and then start over - my monitor went black so I can't see at what point that is.

I don't know if the monitor itself is broken or if its because the computer crashed. I personally think it's because the computer crashed, since it was fine before. This is the way I see it...

Apparently a HARDWARE issue is causing the problem...specifically the driver for your Netgear router: WPN311

If at all possible, when booting the computer...see if you can select the last known good configuration and attempt to boot into Windows.

If you're still having the same issue..you may have to boot from your Windows XP CD and attempt a repair of the selected drive that currently has your Windows XP operating system installed on it.

Be warned: Attempting a repair installation may result in the loss of data. So do this at your own risk.

Another option would be to use the System Recovery partition (if still available) when booting...and attempt to restore your computer to factory default...in this case Vista.

Again...be warned...you will lose any data on your computer, because the System Recovery will reformat the drive during the recovery process and reinstall Vista on that machine.

The decision is yours...so, keep us posted. I'm staring at (but not touching) the file that says is corrupt. I can also access the drivers for the NetGear adaptor. The driver for your router may not be the correct driver for the operating system...

Were you getting the blue screens prior to converting Vista to XP?

You may need to uninstall and reinstall your router software and hardware drivers.

So...if you can boot into Windows normally, TRY reinstalling the router software.

Visit Netgear's website for the correct software.

Here's the link for all the info you'll need: WPN311 Quote from: Saviour on May 27, 2008, 08:02:33 PM

Here's the link for all the info you'll need: WPN311

I reinstalled the driver. It was working fine for a couple hours and then crashed again. Same screen, but this time some sort of USB was in the error message. I restarted it, and it worked fine. Crashed again a couple minutes ago - I didn't manage to take a picture of it.

Restarted it and got a new, DEPRESSING error screen. I'm thinking at this point, I gotta reformat...

The error screen said that a bootable drive was missing, and directed me to Intel's Motherboard Help webpage.Have you attempted a repair installation of XP? Quote
The error screen said that a bootable drive was missing, and directed me to Intel's Motherboard Help webpage.

This exact error message would be helpful if you could post it...the blue screen message irq is not less than or equal too means generally one thing, faulty ram or ram sockets.

Particulary that you could boot into safe mode or normally next time... it smells of faulty ram with intermittent behaviour.

Try replacing or removing the ram you have installed and see if you still get the same error. If you dont then you know that was the problem...

Good luck Quote
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\config\SYSTEM is corrupted
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545

| |
