Solve : Do I need to buy a new copy of Vista?? |
Answer»

I think that I need to replace my motherboard and/or my CPU. I have an OEM version of Vista Home Premium and wonder if I will have to pay another $100 for a new copy of Vista when I repair my system.NO. If you bought a legal copy of vista then you can upgrade your machine as much as you LIKE. As long as it is the same computer with the product key sticker on the side you can swap as many parts as you WANT. You can even upgrade your hard drive and install your copy of vista on that. Do you have your windows vista install disk that came with your computer? What leads you to believe you need a new MBoard or CPU ? After I reset the CMOS it just sits there and continuously beeps long beeps, when I start it up. I took out everything and just connected the PSU, KB, and memory and it still does the same thing.

BTW it's an DFI Infinity MB, with and AMD athlon 4600.If you know the make and model of the bios then you may be able to look uo there website and look for what the different beeps mean
Quote from: programming_pat on April 05, 2008, 04:55:08 PM
If you know the make and model of the bios then you may be able to look uo there website and look for what the different beeps mean

Meh, I installed the new MB and it works fine now. All I need to do is find my Windows Vista CD. It's in a box somewhere, we moved a COUPLE months ago.

| |
