Solve : How can I transfer my Favorites & Program Fold? |
Answer»

Would anyone know how I can transfer my Favorites & Programs Folders/Files from one computer to another? I bought a new comp. I would like to transfer them all at once, as I have too many to do, The old one Does Not have a CD Burner. It only has a Floppy Drive. Is there a way I can e-mail them?

Would appreciate anyone's help!

Thank You,
GeorgeSmokie.....I think the easiest way to do that would be to remove the cd burner from your new pc and install it in the old one then.....copy what you want to a cd or CDS and then remove the burner from the old one and re-install it in the new one.
And yes you could also Email from one pc to the other ....you will have to zip the folders you wish to E mail. But it will work ......or you could network the two pc and do it that way.

Hope this answers your questions.

dl65 I donot think that copying your Program Files folder will do you much good. The programs will require to be installed on the other PC using the installer, they may not function PROPERLY otherwise.

And if the files are not very big (Your favourites SURE can't be) use the Floppy Disk Drive.I believe Raptor is right about the program files; they will have to be re-installed. The INSTALLATION often scatters files throughout several folders (i.e., exe in one[Program Files], dlls in another [system32 I think], etc.) However, you should backup your data files to a CD(.docs, xls, jpegs, etc.)

With your Favorites, go to the file menu in your browser, select import/export and the wizard should step you through the process. Then save it to a floppy if it fits, if not then to a CD.

Good luck!

Re: the edits. Darn fingers!!

| |
