Answer»

HELLO,

My Moms COMPUTER crashed and we had another one that had never worked so we tried reinstalling WINDOWS. That worked but there have been some issues. Occasionally it crashes. Like a blue screen with writing on it will flash really fast, not there long enough to read then it just reboots like its fine. Also, sometimes it is just slow. It has a updated graphics card we put in and not a ton of stuff like our other computer yet its slower half the time. It doesn't make sense.....

When we installed windows I think it asked about what location or file or place to install and I think we may have chosen the wrong one... How can I check that??

Also I ran updated Malware Bytes full scan and only 1 infected file came up called Zwangie or something like that and it was removed. There is an updated virus program from F-Secure.....and an eset scan....It is an HP computer...let me know what all I need to provide if anything more.....The computer is usable just not working as well as it should. I'm confused and not a computer expert....Id like my moms computer to be working right its not really fair its she has a new computer but it works worse than the ancient one we had before (her grandchildren broke that one grrr)

THanks1) What does "it's not working as well as it should" mean?
2) After installing the OS did you install all drivers, including the chipset driver?
3) You are saying that you do have one anti virus utility active at all times, correct?
4) Open Windows Explorer. Where is the Windows folder (which drive)?1) What does "it's not working as well as it should" mean? It MEANS everything I said. the crashing, the slowish/freezing. seriously the crashing can't be good...

2) After installing the OS did you install all drivers, including the chipset driver? I don't know because I'm not sure what your talking about so probably...no?

3) You are saying that you do have one anti virus utility active at all times, correct? correct. I have F-Secure which is updated, always running an updating when necessary. It is my active antivirus program that runs all the time. I did the other scans just as extras to see if they found anything. Just in case.

4) Open Windows Explorer. Where is the Windows folder (which drive)? Um if you mean My Computer and then a folder NAMED windows is in the C.....

Thanks !Okay. Assuming you either did a format and new install or if the hd was blank to start with, you probably did the installation of Windows correctly. But you need to install the drivers. Go to the website of your computer manufacturer and download and install the chipset driver (unless you still have the cd that came with the system, in which case you can install it from there). Then go to the websites of the video card and sound card manufacturers and download and install the current drivers for your specific model cards.

| |
