Solve : Installing xp pro? |
Answer»

Hi, I searched Google for Xp pro, clicked on a site, gave them my cc# and downloaded it, burned it to a cd and now what? Windows setup wants a key and they did not give me one. Help!

Thanks alotricky1me.....Are you sure its not included in the file you D/l ? Is the site you purchased XP pro from a reputable site? Can you either Email or phone the company you bought it from and find out where the key is ?
Is it a upgrade or the full version? Have a good look at the files you burned onto the disk ....look to see if there is a wordpad or notepad file there it may contain the product code. Check your Email....they may have emailed it to you. The other question is .......is it a legal copy of XP pro.......

Let us know

dl65 ricky1me....Can you please post the link of where you D/L the program from ........

let us know

dl65 Hi Thank you for your help. Yes the site has a tech support email system and I have emailed them and awaiting a reply.

It is an ISO file. They also give you "nero" burning cd prgm. I am WAITING instructions to get this to work properly.

Thanks for the support. This site you download winxp pro from...did it have the padlock icon?this is a new one on me and...for msoft to allow such a thing and risky if your connection is lost?..most people go to amazon or a shop to buy the cdrom install disk? When you burn an ISO file to CD and the software presents a warning about the disk not being closed, ignore the warning and DO NOT allow it to close the disk. An ISO file is a disk image and should work "as is" after being burned.http://www.qualityoemsoft.biz/?campaign_id=21012

This is one just like the one I bought it at. I now can't find it on google and they are using a tech support url for the questions. Yea, I know it looks like I got taken, but I believe they are legitimate. I have gotten a reply from them and am waiting another. If I copy this ISO file to a partition and choose it to boot from it should just boot? (Using Image for Dos)ricky1me.....Hummmmm , something doesn't smell right with your transaction.

All the software is OEM- Meaning that you don't get the box and the manual with your software. All you will receive is the actual software and your unique registration code.
PLEASE NOTE! YOU'RE NOT BUYING ANY KIND OF SUBSCRIPTION. YOU'RE PURCHASING TANGIBLE GOODS (SOFTWARE) THAT WILL BE DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR.

If I were you I think I would contact your credit card company.....and let them know that you did not receive what you paid for ...and perhaps get your money back.....
If all you want is a link to D/L the app. there are many available and they include product keys as well .

Let us know how you make out.

dl65

Quote

If I copy this ISO file to a partition and choose it to boot from it should just boot? (Using Image for Dos)

Not EXACTLY. You need to burn the .iso image in such a way that the Burning program burns FOLDERS & FILES to the CDR. So you do NOT just copy the .iso image to the CD.

Just choose to burn an ISO image and the Burning program will do that for you.

Then you can look if there is a text file or somesuch on the CD itself OR it might have been made to install WITHOUT entering the Product key as some OEM installations do.

XP CDs are bootable so you just need to change the first boot device to CD-ROM in your BIOS.

If ANYONE want s to check out another site here is one to try http://buyoemsoftware.com/

I just wonder if all of this really IS legitimate.

I don't suppose the site would be on the Internet if it was cheating. No is it a scam...no padlock and the source code...no listing of who wrote it?....: ricky1me follow dl65 advice...and sorry to say you are not alone on this it seems>http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=oemcd%2C+Inc+&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

| |
