Solve : internet conection sharing in win vista?

Answer»

Hello,

How do I use ICS in windows vista, how do I turn it on? I WANT to use ICS to share the internet CONNECTION between a desktop and a wireless laptop. The internet connection is on the desktop

You'll be one of the few using Internet Connection Sharing; most people use a "router".
ICS Host Computer Setup – Windows Vista
Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)
i know using a router is an option, and a better option. However, I am using dialup and so one of my computers is connected to the internet, and I want the other one which is going to be wireless, to connect to the internet through this computer, as I dont think there is an adapter to convert a rj11 standard phone plug to an rj45 which is an ethernet plug. The router I have has only an ethernet port as its WAN input, and I dont know of any way to plug a telephone jack into an ethernet port.

If I have to use internet connection sharing, then do I need to have a disk or something to transfer settings from one computer to the other?
On dial-up this is going to be painfully slow with 2 machines sharing a connection...
