Answer»

Hi all,
I have just bought a Dell Inspiron with Vista Ultimate (I can hear the groans already)
My only problem (so far) is that I can't dowload my internet mail like I used to with IE6
Neither can I import my archived mail into the new 'windows mail' as it won't accept internet mail files.
My idea was to download OE6 and continue using that,
but I can't seem to be able to UNINSTALL the windows mail program.
I'm not very bright so I may be missing something here ?
Any help greatly appreciated
Windows Mail is integrated with Vista, so it can't be uninstalled, but you can always make any other mail program as your default. Quote

I can't dowload my internet mail like I used to with IE6
IE is a web browser. Are you talking about accessing webmail VIA IE or downloading POP3 mail into OE?

Quote
the new 'windows mail' as it won't accept internet mail files.
It sure will. That's what it's for. So, what do you mean?

Quote
My idea was to download OE6 and continue using that,
No, you can't do that. Besides, there'd be no point in it. You have Windows Mail. Many thank for your replies

I have a few problems with Microsoft mail.
1. It will not download my previous OE6 mail from my ext harddrive, it SAYS that there are no matching files (*.dbx) which there are. A huge amount of my research is in technical emails since 1999 (thousands)
2. I have eight email addresses six of which are internet mail, this means I now have to VISIT each website and forward them to a POP3 account if I want them in Microsoft Mail.
3. I have 850 addresses in my OE6 address books grouped into folders, miocrosoft contacts ignores the folders and shows the complete list.

I am almost at my wits end...OE6 worked FINE. what happened to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it " approach

| |
