Solve : Need help with slow computer? |
Answer»

I am trying to clean up my "new" used laptop I got from my sister, it runs REALLY slow. I did some things on my own, like disk cleanup, and defragment, and I went in and deleted a bunch of old $NtUninstallKB873339$ like files, as suggested on a site, that led me to here. So this is my computer info:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Intel Pentium M
Processor 1.73GHz
1.73 GHz 504 MB of RAM

Dell Latitude 120L
HArd Drive: FUJITSU MHV2040AH
Under Sound and video:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Device
Media Control Devices
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
SRS Audio Sandbox (WDM)
Video Codecs

AVG Free Virus
AVG Anti-Spyware free
ATF Cleaner
and I WANT to use Spyware blaster but I cannot get it to read my firefox

I mainly use Fire fox 2.0.0.12
Sometimes I use Netscape 9.0.0.6
I NEVER use IE unless i am forced to do so.....

I use qwest broadband internet.

ummm, not sure what else to offer about this computer, if I need to do a Hijak this I can, I will need to download it on here, I have it on my desktop, but not here. Hopefully you can help me, its just way slower than i know its supposed to be.Since you just got this laptop from your sister, I assume, you don't have any important data on it. Why not to clean reinstall Windows?Well I didn't add I don't have a cd, also she left on here programs I have wanted and could never afford, like Adobe CS3 and all the microsoft office programs, plus others....it was her school computer, so she dosen't have the disks, it just came with it. Otherwise I would.....but I just don't want to loose them!!Download HijackThis:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hijackthis.html
and post its log.It tells me it The message exceeds the maximum allowed length (10000 characters).

can I attach a file??
Yes.Ha, found it you had it hidden in the "additional options".

[recovering space - attachment deleted by ADMIN]You have few nasties there...

First...
You need to update your Java:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
#4 - Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5
Uninstall all previous VERSIONS of Java through Add\Remove.

Then...
Print these instructions out.

1.
