Solve : small text?

Answer»

Ever since I got my new computer with Windows 8 and a dual-boot with XP I've had some problems with some programs with very small fonts. See attachments. I've tried everything I can think of to ENLARGE these fonts to no avail. Is there some thing I can do to change the size. I can changed the fonts on the desktop but not inside the programs such as this one. I have to set my brower to 125% or more to read the text. Is there a setting in Win 8 which produces such small fonts?

The only screen i see is IE...have you tried the font settings in IE specifically as an app instead of Win8 ? ?
P.S. FireFox i've found has more control settings for viewing...Here's how you can increase the size of all text: right click on the desktop and select Personalize, click on Display (in the lower left column), and then under "Change the size of all items", select Medium - 125%. Click Apply. You'll be prompted to logoff and logon again to finalize this. The text in programs like Word, Xcel and other such programs are all small text but I'll keep working at it. I've noticed the same thing in Windows 8 and Windows XP but I'm quite certain that something in Win8 is driving it.If this is true i'm thinking you may have to do it app by app and save changes where it's available.SUPERDAVE, I hope you get a good answer to this. I have very low vision and have to resort to all kinds of things to see the fine print. The accessibility settings in XP do not change the default fonts inside many programs, just desktop items.

If nit is true that Windows 8 was optimized is for mobile devices, one would think that the user would have more control over font settings.
Although this is a case by case solution, within most apps (especially MS OFFICE apps), pressing the CTRL key and using the scroll button on your mouse will adjust the size of the text on the screen). I set this to 120dpi, then restarted Windows. In Excel, this is the result:

Definitely larger. In both cases, the font is 10pt Arial.

I don't know how much IE6 would mirror this. However, you can change the font size for a webpage by using Control+ the scroll wheel or Control+ the plus or minus keys on the numpad. Both methods worked and it's almost back to the way I want it.
