Solve : 100% CPU usage at Spoolsv.exe?

Answer»

There's a yellow question mark over something called 'RAID-control unit'

I'll try to re-install the printer completly...While your printer is uninstalled, try it with the spooler turned off as well.
Still trying to figure if this is a printer/spooler problem or malware? The printer is now uninstalled but I still have the same problem. I'm starting to think the freezing of my PC and the spoolsv.exe process has nothing to do with each other?2) Download, install, update & run Ewido.
1) Do a search on your computer for spoolsv.exe, it should be in the system32 directory.
3) Check your control panel>printers for pending print jobs.Ewido found a whole lot of infected objects which I removed.

And for the spoolsv search...

I actually got 4 results? Is it safe to remove those that are not in the system32 folder?

I had no pending printer jobs.I'd leave them for the moment.
A question... is your windows fully up to DATE?YesWhen you uninstalled the printer did you also disable the spooler in services?
How long has this been happening? There has been a problem with a recent microsoft update.Yes I've tried to disable spooler in services when I uninstalled.

I'm not SURE about how long it's been going on, a couple of months I think Quote

Yes I've tried to disable spooler in services when I uninstalled.
Did the 100% usage stop then?Yeah it did But the computer froze after some time thoughAn obscure post at another forum that fixed this guy's identical problem.

* Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and stop the Print Spooler.
* Turn off the printer.
* Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the files there.
* Turn your printer back on and restart the service. Check TASK manager, spoolsv.exe should be at 00%.
Thanks alot! You earn a medal

I still wonder though, what those other 3 spoolsv.exe's are?One is a hotfix from windows.
One is an uninstall for the hotfix from windows.
One is your spoolsv file (system32)
The prefetch one is generated by windows for faster access. (Google Prefetch).Simply uninstall your printer do a virus and spyware scan in safe mode. after that USE Hijackthis to clean your registry a littoe.
Then reinstall your printer.

i had this happen to me alot. Its not a virus in most cases. Just your printer is constantly asking what to do. I dont KNOW what the cause of this is, I Hate it.

It may be a virus though, its just a rare virus that infects your spooler.

This should help though.

Oh oH and if you dont have the latest service pack. Get it because Explorer.exe will do the same thing.
