Solve : 1386file problems?

Answer»

I hope someone can tell me what this means.  My computer said that I had a corrupt file and that I should run ChkDsK on my computer.  Chkdsk won't run because all my 1386 files have no program associated with them to run them.  What's up and what should I do?You shouldn't need the i386 files to run chkdsk..sounds like your Windows installation is corrupt.
Do you have an XP CD handy ? ?.

If so go to Start /Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter. No MAN, I have a Gateway and I don't have the Windows Disc.  I tried System Restore at one date and it didn't work.  I HATE to keep trying that until I find a date.  Isn't there any other way to fix this thing?Sorry but WITHOUT a Windows XP CD whether LEGAL or not at this point your options are LIMITED.
