Answer» If you install a 16 bit application on XP, are the system.ini, win.ini files automatically configured for the app., or do you have to CONFIGURE the system.ini and win.ini files yourself? Or does it depend on the application?
If this question makes no sense, please improvise...
thanksIf entries are indeed required the programs should make the changes themselves. But most 16 bit programs will not require entries into either of those .ini files. XP makes little (if any) use of the system.ini or windows.ini files, even for 16 bit programs. Thanks I think I get it.........So those settings are just STORED in the registry instead?
Exactly.Does Vista EMULATE a 16 bit environment or would you need an THIRD party emulator of some sort? If you type "command" into the RUN BOX in Vista, doesn't that emulate the 16 bit command shell?32 bit Vista can run 16 bit apps but 64 bit Vista cannot.ok.....thanks againYou're welcome.
