Solve : 32 bit to 64?? |
|
Answer» I have a new netbook with Windows 8 Home Premium. It has a 32 bit system. Can it be upgraded to 64? I have a new netbook with Windows 8 Home Premium. No, you don't. Windows 8 hasn't been released by Microsoft yet.As said above, you do need to test your laptop to ensure that it can support the 64-bit operating system but as well as considering that you ALSO need to consider whether or not you really need it as it's not the cheapest of upgrades. If you only use your laptop for browsing the internet and such trivial tasks then you probably will not notice much difference, 64bit really is for if you do a fair amount of multi-tasking. (I only say that as I have KNOWN a couple of people who have upgraded who do only use the PC for going on the internet or creating word documents etc. and they haven't noticed any difference what-so-ever)Sorry all!As you can see,I am not much of a typist either! It is of course Windows 7(!!!)Home Premium and not Windows 8. The only reason I asked the question was, that I asked and received(?)a MEMORY upgrade to 4 GB(and paid for it!)before taking the netbook home, only to find out that the 32 bit system is not able to use 3 GB-s,let alone 4.So,now you have the full story. Many thanks to all the useful responses to the people who really understand computers.
